Striking a Pose

A jumpsuit as striking as this one calls for striking a pose and that's exactly what I am doing! I recently picked up this colorful jumpsuit from Anthropologie on sale a few weeks ago and it's definitely going to become one of my favorite jumpsuits! I love that the colors in the print are perfect for transitioning to fall. It's always hard this time of year to find things to wear that are comfortable for warmer temps but still nod to the autumnal season. This jumpsuit definitely fits the bill thanks to the color palette!

I also love that the pattern of this mural echos the pattern in the jumpsuit! There are lots of fun shapes and patterns in both the mural and the print that add visual interest. Speaking of which, this mint colored hat also adds a lot of visual interest to the outfit! I love to wear hats all year and I was so excited when I found this mint one at Target because it's one color that I don't already have in my hat collection!

Colorful Abstract Skirt

Everyone knows I love a colorful skirt, so when I found this fun skirt at Target last month it was love at first sight! I adore the colorful abstract print and, in my opinion, the skirt looks like more of a designer piece than something you might find at Target. In this post I am showing how I styled the skirt in two slightly different ways. Luckily, all of the bright colors found in the print provide endless styling possibilities! Below I styled the skirt with a simple yellow tee and these purple sandals that I just picked up at the outlet mall.

As you can see, the second way I wore the skirt isn't all that different from the first. For the look below, the weather was hot, so I chose a green tank and also some silver sandals to keep things cool. I kept the same pink bag because it really brings out the pink in the pattern.  In the future, I could see pattern mixing with the skirt by adding a black and white striped top or, if it's cooler, adding a blazer for a more polished look. The styling possibilities are as endless as the colors!

Spring Sweater (Feather) Weather

The weather here in Los Angeles has been all over the place lately! Last week, it was warm and sunny, but this week will be colder and rainy. As a result, I've been going back and forth between my summer clothing and winter clothing. If I need to find winter clothing to wear this time of the year, I try to look for sweaters and coats that are in light or pastel colors so that I still look appropriate for spring. A perfect example of an item of clothing I might reach for with the crazy weather we've been having lately is this pink and white sweater, which is perfect for this transition of weather, because the colors are light and bright, but it still keeps me warm in cooler temperatures. The bonus is that it has light pink feathers on the sleeves, so what's not to love?!

I will be completely honest: my husband hates all my clothing with feathers and claims it will be a short-lived trend. While the latter is probably true, I still love anything with feathers, and I think it's a detail that takes something ordinary and turns it into something to extraordinary and unique! Because I'm on the subject of details making a difference in your wardrobe, let me also point out how much I love these Hush Puppies Hazel flats that ended up being the perfect match with my sweater. While feathers might be a trend, I think a comfy, classic flat in a fun color will never go out of style!

Feeling Groovy

Sometimes it's fun to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to fashion, which is exactly what I did with these very groovy floral bell-bottom pants! I got these pants at Target, primarily because I love the colorful floral pattern, but I wasn't quite sure about the bell-bottom silhouette, as it's been some time (maybe the 90s?) since I have worn that style of pant. Well, I'm glad that I did, because these pants are so much fun! To play with the fun colors in the pants, and also because it was a bit chilly, I paired these pants with a bright pink moto jacket and orange tee. I have moto jackets in a few different colors, but I think pink just might be my favorite! Below, you will find a selection of moto jackets that are perfect for spring!

Personally, I love this alley for photos! In my opinion, it's very fashion forward, although it does get a bit windy and you have to watch out for people walking by and getting in your photos! There's also people frequently taking out trash and taking their lunch breaks from nearby businesses and restaurants to contend with, but it's usually the perfect or, shall I say, a "groovy" place for photos! It was definitely the perfect place to strike a pose for these retro pants!

Little Pink Dress

First, there was the little black dress. Then, there was the little white dress. But what about the little pink dress? Well, I think the little pink dress should be a staple in every woman's wardrobe, especially if you are a color lover such as myself! This pink dress was a recent find from Target and I purchased it because I love the bright pink color and also that it's made out of a soft tee shirt type of material that makes it very comfortable and easy to wear in the summer! Below, you will find some other little pink dresses that I also love!

Speaking of color lovers, while this pink dress is very cute, I must admit that the rainbow staircase behind me might be stealing the show! These colorful stairs are the very "Instagramable" Micheltorena Steps in Silver Lake. I visited these stairs years ago and did photos in the exact same spot for my blog. Unfortunately, over the years, they fell into a state of disrepair and were heavily graffitied. Luckily, they were recently painted and now look better than ever!

Shirt+Top=Dress

I bought this fun striped skirt a few weeks ago from Target. I originally paired the skirt with a solid tee shirt and a panama hat for a recent trip to Temecula's wine country. (If you follow me on Instagram, I posted this version of the look there.) Well, I loved the skirt so much taht I decided to get the matching blouse shortly after wearing the skirt for the first time. As you can see here, I'm pairing the blouse with the skirt to create an outfit that essentially looks like a dress. The thing I like about this is that the pattern really makes a much bigger statement when you pair the two pieces together, but then you also have the option to wear them as separate pieces!

For accessories, I thought the obvious choice was to go with an orange tote bag to bring out all of the fun, warm colors in the print. I also opted for a pair of natural sandals, which are a little hard to see because the grass in front of this Victorian house was a little high when we took these pictures, but, believe me, they are very cute and you can probably just see the bows peaking out, which make them extra cute!

Jumpsuiting Into Spring

At this point, I have so many of these jumpsuits/boiler suits (I'm honestly not sure what the difference is) that you might think that I was an auto mechanic! Well, if someone mistakes me for an auto mechanic, at least I look like a very chic one, even though I know almost nothing about cars! So, while I have way too many jumpsuits, I decided to kick off the spring season with a new jumpsuit in a soft mint color. It was under $50, so I figured I could add it to my collection without feeling too guilty!

I'm never quite sure how to accessorize jumpsuits, but I got some styling ideas from the Target website that showed this jumpsuit with a skinny scarf on the model. Luckily, I already had a skinny scarf with Rifle Paper Company fabric, so it was easy to add that item to the look. To be honest, I'm never quite sure what shoes to wear with jumpsuits. However, I did an outfit change prior to this and I didn't want to bring another pair of shoes, so to simplify things I just wore these bow sandals from Draper James. I thought the blue denim fabric of the sandals brought out the colors in the scarf. Plus, the denim look and the scarf is perhaps a nod to my mechanic inspiration as well!
