Blue, Yellow and Bows

I wore this blue and yellow outfit to go out to lunch at an Argentinean restaurant a couple weeks ago. I was so excited to wear these J. Crew Willa blue check pants for my excursion! I have several pairs of these Willa style pants now with these check ones being the latest. I will have to say that, even though they are the same style and I always take my normal size 6, they all seem to fit just a little different. This pair, perhaps because they are from the "J. Crew Collection" seemed to fit and be tailored the best of all of my Willa pants, so I highly recommend them! There is also a matching blazer that I was lucky to snag on sale when it popped back up on the J. Crew website. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to photograph the pants with the blazer. Now the weather is too hot for a blazer, so you might have to wait until next year to see the complete suit!

I accessorized my blue and yellow look with these bow sandals. I have these sandals in two colors: blue and pink. Although I love them, they are very high and a little hard to walk in. (Luckily, the restaurant was not very far away from where we parked, so it wasn't a big deal to wear impractical shoes!) J. Crew currently has a very similar pair of bow sandals on sale that have a lower heel and are equally cute! To go along with the blue theme, I also wore my Teddy Blake bag on this occasion, which was the perfect finishing touch for my look!

Orange Sherbet Blazer

While there are a few brands that I always gravitate to, I am open minded when it comes to trying new things. Never would I have thought that Walmart was a good place to buy cute and trendy pieces, but when an ad popped up for this orange and pink check blazer (Google or whoever controls the algorithm apparently knows me well!) I was excited to check it out. When the blazer arrived, I was definitely impressed with the quality and fit for the price. Best of all, I love the pastel orange and pink colors that remind me of a big bowl of orange sherbet from someplace like the now gone Howard Johnson's restaurant. (There's a Mad Men Allusion in there if you are familiar with the show.) I thought the blazer would look good with a smaller check shirt in orange for a "check on check" look!

Speaking of trying new things, I have been living in skinny jeans for years now. (I know, I know...they're so over!) I don't think I will ever abandon skinny jeans because I think they can look very polished and classic, but I did want to try a more flared pair of jeans for something different and more on trend. I bought two pair of such jeans from Target, because I wasn't sure I wanted to invest a lot of money in a trend that I might not be crazy about in a couple years. Like the blazer, I was very happy with this particular pair of flare jeans that I got from Target, and think that the light color is the perfect complement to the pastels in the blazer.

Hitting All the Right Notes

When I saw this tulle musical note skirt, my first thought was that I needed to get it to wear to a concert with the L.A. Philharmonic at Disney Hall! I had visions of twirling in this skirt in front of the Frank Gehry-designed structure before a concert, which would be perfect for any musical occasion. Well, I don't go to concerts at Disney Hall that often, so maybe this skirt provides an excuse to go more? Regardless, next time I go, I know I will definitely be wearing this gorgeous skirt that hits all of the the right notes! In the meantime, the pretty spring flowers in this post make for a lovely background for my skirt and outfit!

One of the reasons that these pink flowers are such a perfect complement to my outfit is that I decided to style this skirt with a pink ruffle top and pink satin sandals. I thought the mint color of the skirt and the pink accents in my outfit would look lovely this time of year for spring! In the future, I could see myself styling this skirt for a Disney Hall concert in a more conservative way with a black top and shoes. Perhaps you will see the skirt appear soon on my blog or Instagram, but re-imagined and me twirling in front of Disney Hall!

Fancy Floral on the Hiking Trail

In case you haven't heard, the wildflowers are in full bloom here in California due to all the rain we've had. One plant that is almost everywhere, especially on the side of the freeways, are these mustard flowers. We found a gorgeous trail with these vibrant yellow mustard flowers that made for the perfect backdrop for my floral applique skirt because it too is in full bloom with all of the flowers your heart could desire! While it might be a little unusual to go hiking in heels with a Chanel bag and a big poofy skirt, I thought the backdrop of wildflowers would be perfect to show off this new skirt and the accessories match it perfectly!

This floral skirt was so fun to style because the applique flowers are in an array of different colors, which is another thing that attracted me to it initially. I decided to pull out the purples and pinks with my bag and puff sleeve top. I also added a little pop of yellow in my shoes, which turned out to be a perfect match with these mustard flowers! Also, notice how my earrings are yellow flowers as well! Yes, it's head to toe flowers in my outfit to celebrate wild flower season!

The Easter Bunny!

Happy Easter! It wouldn't be Easter without a trip to these gigantic bunny sculptures that can be found in the Newport Beach Civic Center Sculpture Park! It also wouldn't be Easter without a lot of pastel. This pastel button-down shirt from Gap is going to be an Easter favorite of mine for years to come. I love it when paired with a simple pair of mint jeans. While it might not be the best look to wear for Easter dinner, it's a fun look to wear in the spring or to a sculpture park to look at these gigantic bunny sculptures!

Pastel Princess

With this gorgeous, castle-like mansion in back of me, you might think that I'm vacationing in France right now (I wish!) but, believe it or not, this house can be found in Riverside, California! We went to the Kimberly Crest mansion a few weeks ago on our way to Palm Springs. It's such a gorgeous hidden gem here in Southern California! We went a few years ago and took a tour of the inside of the Chateau-style Victorian mansion but on this occasion we just strolled the grounds and the gardens.  I'm not going to lie: part of the reason for this was because I thought it would make for the perfect backdrop for this ruffle pastel maxi dress! I also wanted to go back because I didn't get any photos when we went the first time and I thought it would be fun to make a reel about this location on Instagram!

While this dress is not quite a princess dress, I certainly felt a little bit like a princess strolling the grounds of this amazing property! While it's not photographed here, there are some gardens and a park adjacent to the mansion that were fun to wander. (I would recommend not wearing heels like these Draper James sandals for hiking around the grounds, as I painfully discovered!) I also think that this dress would make for the perfect Easter dress to wear due to the gorgeous pastel colors. In fact, I just might have to wear it for Easter this year!

Pink Trim Blazer

I definitely can't get enough of blazers lately! This cream and pink trim blazer is my newest addition to my blazer collection. It came out at Talbots as part of their Valentine's Day collection, but I also love it as a way to transition into spring. Speaking of spring, I never thought I would say this, but it actually snowed here in parts of Los Angeles! I wore this blazer and pink and white striped button down right before the storm came in. This week, I'm just wearing heavy sweaters and rain boots, so it's nice to look back on the little glimpse of spring we had a week ago!

I am styling this blazer with lots of pops of pink, including this pink and white button-down shirt and metallic pink flats. I love the combination of pink and mint together, so I thought my mini mint bag would be perfect as a finishing touch for this look! Pink and mint are perfect for Easter and the upcoming spring season, which I hope will be here sooner than later!

Pink and Green in Anticipation of Spring!

With Valentine's Day over, it's apparent that spring is right around the corner. Although the weather here is going to get a bit chilly and rainy this week and other parts of the country have snow storms in the forecast, I think everyone is thinking about spring! Nothing quite says spring like the color combo of pink and green, which is why I love this preppy pink and green cardigan. I thought these pink and white check pants would be the perfect thing with which to pair the cardigan, and, to top it off, why not add a light pink beret?

I actually wore almost this exact same outfit, but with a red and pink heart sweater, a few days before Valentine's Day. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my post of the outfit! I also did a reel showing me transitioning from that Valentine's Day look to this look for spring! I'm not sure which look I like more, but that just goes to show how versatile these pink check pants are, because they look so cute with everything!
