"One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art"
-Oscar Wilde
I decided to begin this post with an epigram from the flamboyant dandy himself, Oscar Wilde. As the school year winds down, I am ending on a comical note with, The Importance of Being Earnest. In preparation, I was pouring through some of Oscar Wilde's most famous quotes in order to give students a feel for his wit and philosophy before beginning the play. As you can imagine, the quote above instantly struck a chord with me. I also found myself drawn to the eccentric wardrobe of the writer/dramatist and even worked that into a question regarding the biography of Oscar Wilde for my students to ponder.
Like Oscar Wilde, I often have a flair for the dramatic when it comes to my wardrobe. I love prints that look like they are literally works of art with lots of color and prominent brushstrokes. This skirt from Anthropologie, aptly named the Fauvism midi skirt (after Matisse's vivid style of painting), definitely fits all of the criteria above. So while I might not be a dandy, I am definitely channeling a little bit of that attitude while I "strut" the streets of Pasadena!
Skirt: Anthroplogie Fauvism Midi Here
Shirt: Target/Merona
Shoes: H&M Here
Bag: Louis Vuitton Epi Speedy in Grenade
Necklace: LOFT Metallic Fringe necklace Here
Sunglasses: Prada "Baroque"
That skirt is a work of art WOW! Question, do you recommend the tees from Merona?
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada! I definitely recommend Merona tees. They wash up really well compared to other brands I've tried such as J. Crew. I buy all of my tees at Target because I think the quality is exceptional for the price.
