Full Bloom
It's officially summer and the flowers of spring are still in bloom, at least on this mural! I think this floral mural might be one of my favorite murals, at least in the Orange County area! Because we were in the area, I thought it would be a great backdrop for my new Ban.do wrap skirt in picnic plaid! This super cute skirt is now on clearance and it was such a great price that I also bought it in red and white stripe, which I am saving for a 4th of July outfit! It's hard to believe that we are less than two weeks away from the Independence Day holiday; the summer is really flying by!
Speaking of Independence Day, as I mentioned, I am already planning some cute red, white and blue outfits for the holiday! While this round blue rope bag isn't exactly the shade of blue that initially comes to mind when one thinks of dressing patriotically, I think I just might have to find a way to work it into some of my outfits leading up to the 4th. It's become my go to summer bag this season because it's one of the few bags I own that is actually practical and can fit everything...and then some! It would make for a great beach bag or a perfect bag for just running errands!

Purple Rainbows
I love anything with rainbows, be it a wall, shirt or bag. As you can see, this post features all three things in some form of rainbow print! First of all, how cute is this rainbow print flutter sleeve top! This top is from the Draper James collaboration with Kohl's. I'm so in love with the rainbow print that I also purchased the dress version in the same print, which I'm really looking forward to wearing soon this spring! It turns out that this pastel rainbow print was also the perfect match for another rainbow item, which is my new Stoney Clover Lane rainbow bag that is from their collaboration with Target. Apparently, I not only like rainbows but also collaborations!
Last of all, how pretty is this purple and pink rainbow wall? Whenever we are in this area of Hollywood, I always try to make a stop at this mural for photos, because I love this wall so much! Purple is my favorite color, so you can probably understand why I gravitate towards this wall. It also tends to match a lot of the colors of my wardrobe, so it is a win-win situation all around!

A Gothic Kind of Love
In honor of Valentine's Day this month, I've been on the lookout for murals and spots around Los Angeles that are love themed. So, when I discovered this mural by Dean Stockton, also known as D*Face, I thought it would be great place to checkout in celebration of Valentine's Day because the characters are kissing. While this mural features two lovers engrossed in a passionate kiss, one can't help but notice that they are a bit gothic looking and maybe even dead! It's a cool and dark spin on pop art, which makes it all the more intriguing. I decided to wear my purple jumpsuit on this particular day. While the jumpsuit is from last year, there are a few almost exact ones that I've linked to below in case you're dying to get your hands on a purple jumpsuit too!
In addition to visiting this cool mural, we also went to a retro diner in the area called The Tallyrand. The Tallyrand has been around since 1959 and is a popular place to dine in the Burbank area. I love finding places that take you back to a different time in Los Angeles' past, so this restaurant was right up my alley. We had a great lunch there and overheard some locals talking about a possible suspect in the very dark Black Dahlia murder case. Overhearing the conversation about this infamous murder definitively complemented the dark and gothic vibe of the mural!

Wild Hearts
I took a little break from blogging recently, but I'm back, feeling
refreshed, and bursting with color! Last weekend, I was finally able to
get out and enjoy some things around the city. This included a trip to
the Arts District in Los Angeles, which is a vibrant section of the city
with lots of small shops, restaurants and, of course, colorful murals!
Originally, I wanted to see some of the new crochet murals by artist
London Kaye in this area. Unfortunately, the mural I wanted to take
photographs by was largely torn down and there was a impromptu band that
had set up to play music by it! Luckily, I spied this heart mural from
afar and it was the perfect match for this colorful Farm Rio leopard print cardigan
that I am featuring in today's post! I actually like this backdrop a
lot more than the original one I had planned, so it all worked out in
the end.
I am trying to discover new brands lately and one that I really love is
Farm Rio, which is where this cardigan is from. I love the wild,
colorful print of this sweater and the cozy oversized fit! All of Farm
Rio's clothing is quite colorful and fun, so I hope to buy some more
pieces from them in the future. If I do get any more pieces from them,
it will also provide me with another excuse to venture into the Arts
District to stumble upon another fun and funky wall there! After all,
there's always something new to discover in Los Angeles!

Party Polka Dots
I love a good polka dot print but when you throw color into the equation then it really takes the polka dots to the next level! I also really like clothing that is comfortable, in addition to being colorful! So, as you can imagine, this polka dot dress from Target is just perfect because its cute, colorful and comfy, thus fulfilling all of the above criteria. Essentially, it's like a sweatshirt dress, hence the comfort, and, as you can, see the polka dot print is a fun purple and coral combination. The other good news is that it's been marked down and is now on clearance!
Speaking of the fun color combination of this dress, I thought this mural, which is located behind a children's museum, would be the perfect complement to my dress, because the colors of the rainbow match the colors of the dress. I'm also wearing my favorite pair of shoes, which are rainbow flats from Salvatore Ferragamo. These shoes seem to go with just about everything in my closet, not to mention the rainbow mural! I guess it's rainbows all around, which is never a bad thing in my opinion.

Party Skirt
The colorful dot print and the layered tiers of this skirt from Milly just screams "Party!", in my opinion! Milly is a new brand for me and, to be honest, I don't know how I came across this particular skirt. (It might have been an ad on Facebook, which seems to know my shopping habits and tastes a little too well, if you know what I mean!) Still, I fell in love with it immediately! While we were taking these pictures, the gentle breeze that we had on this particular day kept lifting up the layers of this skirt. While this was a bit of a nuisance and while these tiers of fabric might not be the most practical thing, it does make the skirt very fun and playful!
I wanted to play up the color of this skirt by adding a tee shirt that was a similar color to the dominant color found in the skirt. I thought this citron color tee that I just recently purchased was a perfect match! Because it is now officially fall and it's time to wear more muted colors, I could also see pairing this skirt with a brown or maroon sweater to make it more subdued. However, since this is such a fun, playful skirt, it would be difficult tone it down too much, which is something I would never want to do!

Making Waves
I love any print that has a little bit of artistic flair to it! Anything that looks like paint strokes or splotches done by an artist is right up my alley! So, while I was glancing through the recent new markdowns at Anthropologie, I was excited to stumble on this cute pintucked blouse with a fun artistic print. Because the price was right, I decided to get the top. When it arrived in the mail, I was super happy with my purchase! This is a piece that could be worn alone, as I'm doing here with just a pair of colorful pants, or layered with a cardigan when the cooler weather finally arrives in California!
Speaking of art, I was also pleasantly surprised that there was a new art piece at the Lab Anti Mall in Costa Mesa. Because I didn't know it existed until I arrived, I actually wasn't planing on using this mural as a backdrop for these photos but, when I saw it, I immediately ditched the other location that I had in mind. I thought the wavy lines used to depict the mountains was a good match for the colorful wavy lines in my top. I love it when an outfit and art can come together!
