Something Sweet

There's nothing sweeter than a tulle skirt, especially a multi-tiered tulle skirt in rainbow colors! I have quite a few tulle skirts and while they are not the most practical wardrobe staple, they do bring me a lot of joy! Life is too short not to wear things that make you happy! This tulle skirt with blue hues is from Red Dress Boutique and it is certainly the perfect addition to my growing tulle collection. I have a similar skirt in pink hues but I wanted to cool things off for the fall and winter season with this blue one. Because the weather is also getting cooler here, I paired this skirt with a neon sweatshirt, which might seem like an unconventional pairing but I love to do dressy with casual for an unexpected twist!

Now that I think about it, there might be one thing that is sweeter than a tulle skirt...a candy store! I took these photos outside of the lovely rainbow floral display at a candy store called B. Candy in Newport Beach. I was lucky to get these photos in because, due to factors beyond my control in addition to daylight savings (which is not sweet at all!), the sun was setting and the traffic was heavy. Luckily, everything worked out almost perfectly, which was pretty sweet! While I didn't get any photos of the inside of the candy store, it features tons of candy and delicious ice cream, in addition to other colorful goodies. It's the perfect place for a color-lover with a sweet-tooth, such as myself!

Little White Dress

Everyone needs a little white dress for summer, right? Since I don't do anything without at least some color, I picked this white summer dress, which has a little bit of color woven throughout it. I purchased the dress from Red Dress Boutique at the beginning of the quarantine and although I knew I wouldn't be able to wear it right away, I had a few places mapped out in my mind for where I might wear it once summer arrived. Well, now even going out to places this summer seems to be in question, at least here in California, so for now I am content for just wearing this dress on a stroll around the neighborhood. As far as I can tell, I'm the most dressed up person in my neighborhood when it comes to taking a walk!

One thing I love about this dress is that the colors in it go with many of the bags in my collection. While I was torn between a yellow bag and a blue one, I decided to take my styling cues from the way the dress was shown online, which included a blue bag. I think Prada calls the color of my bag here cornflower blue, which pairs nicely with the dress. My bag is also the perfect size in which to conceal a DSLR camera while walking around the neighborhood so that my neighbors don't think I'm too strange!

The Perfect Spring Jacket

Springtime is wonderful with its flowers and warmer temps but, let's face it, sometimes the weather can be all over the place or just downright unpredictable. I probably shouldn't talk because no one knows about the unpredictability of weather better than the people living in the Midwest who were hit with a massive snowstorm this week! Luckily, all I have to deal with is the fluctuation in temps ranging from "somewhat cool" to "a little hot". Well, in order to deal with this, I've taken to donning a light jacket in the morning, my favorite being this pale blush moto jacket from Old Navy. I have a ton of denim jackets but the styling of this one and the color makes it a unique addition to my wardrobe.

Not only am I excited about my new spring jacket, I'm also pretty excited that there's a new wall in town. Nothing gets me more excited than a wall that's close by and this one that just recently went up is by one of my favorite bookstores, Vromans in Pasadena. So now I can shop for books, take a blog photo and there's also an incredible wine store right next to the bookstore too, so it's pretty much one stop shopping with all my various interests covered!

Palm and Pink

Sometimes you see an item of clothing and you just know that you need it right away! That's how I felt when I discovered this cute palm skirt! Usually, I like to wait for sales but this skirt was under $100 and it was so adorable that I was afraid that it might sell out before hitting the sale rack, so I purchased it immediately! Although I can imagine pairing the skirt with many different tops, the first thing that popped into my mind was to do something with a pink blouse. Pink and green make for the perfect spring combination of colors, in my opinion! Luckily, I just recently purchased this stripped button down blouse from Target, so it was the perfect match for my new palm skirt!

For the bag, I had to go with something to play up the tropical feel of the skirt. What better option than this green bamboo bag? I got this bag last year and while it isn't the most practical bag (my husband makes fun of it whenever I wear it and also likes to remind me of its impracticality!), it does go with a lot of my spring and summer wardrobe. I'm tempted to get one in another color, maybe a neutral color down the road, but I'm pretty happy with my choice of green for my first bag in this style. I look forward to wearing it with many more pink and green outfits in the future!

Jumpsuit for Fall

If there's one article of clothing that I never thought I would own, it would be a jumpsuit! I forget exactly when the jumpsuit became fashionable and trendy, maybe a few years ago, but I am certainly happy that I finally jumped on the jumpsuit bandwagon! This particular jumpsuit from Red Dress Boutique is absolutely perfect for fall. I love the goldenrod color and the print that features tiny, playful dots. It also has a slightly dressier silhouette, which makes it extra special!

So while I just sung the virtues of the jumpsuit in the first part of this post, I will have to say that they do have one drawback and that's getting them on and off, especially when it is time to go to the bathroom! This one has a zipper in the back and I needed a little help from my husband to get it fully zipped up when I initially put it on. The day I wore this, he and I went out to lunch and shopping and I found myself in the dressing room of a store by myself, wanting to try on some things. I wasn't sure if I could unzip it myself but where there's a will (or a sale at Anthropologie) there's a way! I did reach around and got it un-zipped because I'm fairly flexible but I walked out with it only partially zipped up! Luckily, my husband was waiting outside of the store for me ready to finish the job! I guess this is just a small price to pay for such a chic jumpsuit!

There's No Wrong Time for Rainbow Stripes

I don't know how many posts I did last summer on rainbow stripes but it certainly was a lot! This fall, as the temperature cools down, rainbow stripes are definitely still as hot as ever. Take, for example, this halter top from Red Dress Boutique in a print they call "rainbow feels". Anything called "rainbow feels" has my name written all over it! Due to the fact that the top is sleeveless, it definitely would work for spring or summer but the black background of the print also makes it a bit more "fallish" in comparison to some of my other rainbow stripe items.

I decided that this top would work best with jeans and I realized that I haven't worn jeans in a while. During summer, I tend to wear more skirts and shorts because I find them to be cooler than jeans. I do, however, love these boyfriend style jeans because they are quite soft and so incredibly comfortable. I thought wearing them would be a good way to offset this fun and feminine top. Certainly, this outfit would be perfect to wear out on a fun Saturday night or, if you're boring like me and you seldom go out at night, you could just wear it for a casual lunch out during the day, which is exactly what I did last weekend. Without a doubt, as my title suggests, there's no wrong time of the year or the day for rainbow stripes!

A Stroll Through the Gardens at the Huntington

I can't tell you the lengths that I went through to get this jumpsuit from H&M's collabroation with GP & J Baker! First, I ordered it and my order was canceled due to it no longer being in stock. Next, it came back in stock in my size and then H&M's website wasn't working, seemingly for days. Finally, I was able to purchase it and received my shipping confirmation but then it didn't arrive until almost a month later! Well, good things come to those who wait! The only problem? After such a dramatic build up, where should I debut my long awaited jumpsuit? Luckily for me, the week it arrived, I was going to attend an event at the Huntington Library and Gardens and their Chinese garden made for the perfect backdrop for this outfit!

I was also pondering what bag to pair with this look and, again, luckily my new green bamboo bag from Red Dress Boutique arrived just before the event and proved to be the perfect piece to accompany the jumpsuit! I have wanted one of these bags for the longest time but I never quite got around to getting one. When I saw this one in green, however, I immediately fell in love with it because it was a bit more unique than the standard neutral bamboo bags that are everywhere on Instagram lately. This bag definitely helped to bring out the Asian theme of my outfit and the location. All in all, it was the perfect look to take a stroll through the gardens at the Huntington, which is one of my favorite places in Los Angeles!
