The Easter Bunny!

Happy Easter! It wouldn't be Easter without a trip to these gigantic bunny sculptures that can be found in the Newport Beach Civic Center Sculpture Park! It also wouldn't be Easter without a lot of pastel. This pastel button-down shirt from Gap is going to be an Easter favorite of mine for years to come. I love it when paired with a simple pair of mint jeans. While it might not be the best look to wear for Easter dinner, it's a fun look to wear in the spring or to a sculpture park to look at these gigantic bunny sculptures!

Pastel Princess

With this gorgeous, castle-like mansion in back of me, you might think that I'm vacationing in France right now (I wish!) but, believe it or not, this house can be found in Riverside, California! We went to the Kimberly Crest mansion a few weeks ago on our way to Palm Springs. It's such a gorgeous hidden gem here in Southern California! We went a few years ago and took a tour of the inside of the Chateau-style Victorian mansion but on this occasion we just strolled the grounds and the gardens.  I'm not going to lie: part of the reason for this was because I thought it would make for the perfect backdrop for this ruffle pastel maxi dress! I also wanted to go back because I didn't get any photos when we went the first time and I thought it would be fun to make a reel about this location on Instagram!

While this dress is not quite a princess dress, I certainly felt a little bit like a princess strolling the grounds of this amazing property! While it's not photographed here, there are some gardens and a park adjacent to the mansion that were fun to wander. (I would recommend not wearing heels like these Draper James sandals for hiking around the grounds, as I painfully discovered!) I also think that this dress would make for the perfect Easter dress to wear due to the gorgeous pastel colors. In fact, I just might have to wear it for Easter this year!

Cozy Yellow Coat

It's now in the mid 60s here in Los Angeles (tomorrow it might actually be in the 50s!), so these "frigid" temperatures mean that it's time to start breaking out my coats! Despite living in a very warm climate, I actually have a lot of coats; some might call it an addiction! I love the way coats allow you to add an extra layer of color to any outfit, just like this yellow Sam Edelman coat that I picked up this year during Black Friday. I have coats in just about every color, but, believe it or not, yellow, is the one color missing from my collection! So, when I saw this bright yellow coat on sale last week, I knew I had to get it and I have actually worn it several times in the last week to keep warm in the "cold" weather here in Los Angeles!

My rainbow sweater in this post represents another type of clothing item that I'm obsessed with (i.e., colorful striped sweaters!), and it was also purchased around Black Friday this year. The sweater is from Gap and every year around the holidays they come out with a "Happy Stripe" sweater that I always have to buy because they are so colorful and cute! At this point, I have quite the collection of Gap "Happy Stripe" sweaters, but I also get a ton of use out of these sweaters during the short season here when it's cold enough for sweaters. Sweater weather and coat season might be brief here in Southern California, but I try to make the most out of it!

Easter Plaid

It just dawned on me yesterday while seeing family that Easter is only two weeks away! The reminder that this holiday is right around the corner has prompted me to start planning the menu for our Easter dinner and it's also prompted me to start breaking out pastel colors for the spring Easter season. I guess now there is even a plaid called "Easter Plaid", which I discovered when purchasing this "Easter Plaid" shirt dress from Gap. (Well, Easter Plaid seems to be just a term used by Gap, but I like it!) When I think of plaid, I usually think about Christmas but I am all for pastel plaid this time of the year!

One of the other things that I'm all for this time of year is pretty pink blossoms! As I wrote about in another post, which, now that I think about it, was also about a Gap dress, I mentioned these gorgeous pink blossomed trees that you see lining the streets of Los Angeles this time of the year. A few weeks ago, the trees on this side of the street where not really in bloom, but when we returned last weekend, they were much more full and vibrant. Spring is definitely the most gorgeous time of year here in Southern California and I can't get enough of all of the blossoming trees and flowers right now. Unfortunately, we didn't get enough rain this year for what's known as a "Super Bloom", but it's gorgeous none the less!

Spring Shirt Dress

I love a good shirt dress and also a good print, so as you can imagine, I was head over heels in love with this cute shirt dress from the Gap! I wore this shirt dress a couple of weeks ago on one of the first days that really felt like spring here in California. Speaking of spring, in the background you can probably see just a little bit of pink from the gorgeous trees in the background. I am not exactly sure what type of trees they are but their pink blossoms are such a welcome sight because they officially kick off the spring season here!

To accessorize my printed shirt dress I decided to go with some fun pops of color to bring out the color palette of the dress.  There are so many gorgeous colors in this dress, so it was hard to decide on a bag but I decided to reach for my new Teddy Blake bag to bring out the blue from the print of the dress! I think the light blue color of the bag when combined with the a pop of purple/pink from my shoes also help to make the dress look more spring-like and also to put a spring in my step!

Wearing my Heart on my Tee

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so I'm trying to pull all of my red, pink, and heart themed items of clothing out of the closet and wear them in the upcoming week! This month, I found this cute heart tee at Gap and thought it would be perfect for Valentine's Day! I also love the top because the anthropomorphic heart is the artwork of pop artist Keith Haring. I actually bought a couple tees from this Gap and Keith Haring collaboration because I love anything that combines art and fashion! You will see the other tee I purchased from the collaboration and how I styled it next week on my blog but I thought I would start with the heart tee because of Valentine's Day!

I thought that this heart tee would be a perfect match for these plaid pink and red pants that I purchased last year at Anthropologie. Red and pink is one of my favorite color combinations, especially this time of the year. When I first wore these pants at the end of the summer, I made a mental note that I should bring them out again for Valentine's Day because the color combo makes them perfect for the holiday! While Valentine's Day is actually not my favorite holiday, as you can see, it is one of my favorite holidays to dress for due to the color combinations and my affinity for hearts!

Fancy Buttons

Now that Christmas is over, it's time to think about New Year's!  I've always been the type of person who would rather stay in than go out on New Year's but I still like to get a little dressed up the week of New Year's in sparkly, festive attire. This pink jeweled button cardigan is perfect for New Year's or, really, just about any day of the year! If the cardigan looks familiar to you, it's probably because I featured the black version a couple weeks ago on my blog. While I love the black version, the pink is my favorite! The pink color really helps to bring out all of the beautiful colors in the bejeweled buttons in my opinion.

Another thing that I love about this cardigan is that it can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood and/or the occasion. With this look, I decided to dress up the cardigan by pairing it with a green velvet skirt. Pink and green just happen to be one of my favorite color combinations and, to be honest, I actually bought the skirt specifically to go with this pink cardigan! This cardigan would also look adorable with jeans for a more casual look, which, let's face it, will probably be what most of us are going to be wearing for this New Year's!

Adding a Touch of Metallic Shine

I love the holiday season because it's okay to be a little bit "extra" when it comes to what you're wearing! For example, adding sequins or shiny metallic fabrics to any outfit all of sudden doesn't seem quite so over the top. With this outfit, I'm taking a basic, albeit colorful, chunky sweater and pairing it with a gold pleated skirt. While this sweater would be tons of fun with just a pair of jeans, the addition of a little bit of shine makes it the perfect holiday look!

I have a few metallic skirts like this in my collection, including a similar style in silver. While they definitely seem to be a trend now, I think this style of pleated, metallic skirt is probably here to stay when it comes to becoming a classic staple for the holiday season! Below are some of my favorite metallic pleated skirts for this season. I love that you can literally find a skirt to match the metal of your choicefrom rose gold to platinum, all your bases are covered!
