Green Maxi Dress

Last month I saw this green tiered maxi dress from Target on a couple blogs and although it wasn't maybe quite my style, I was somehow drawn to its easy and effortless silhouette. I also like to try new styles every once in a while and since the price was right I thought I might as well give it a shot. Once I had made my decision to get the dress, I realized that it was out of stock on Target's website and that just made me want it even more! (Funny how that works!) Luckily, Target's website will notify you via email when an item you want is restocked, so as soon as I got the email notification from Target I bought it ASAP!

I like that this bold green dress is a blank canvas for accessories and, me being me, I opted for some very colorful accessories!  I really love these colorful criss cross J. Crew "Cora" sandals because they add a pop of color to any outfit and go with just about anything. Additionally, much like the dress, these sandals are incredibly comfortable and easy to wear. With the oppressively hot weather we have been experiencing here in Los Angeles as of late, it's best to keep things comfortable and cool, not to mention colorful!

It's in the Bag!

I'm officially a fan of the paper-bag waist-style shorts! After buying several pairs, including these red and white striped pair from H&M, I can't imagine wearing any other style for summer! While that might be a bit of an over-exaggeration, I'm definitely smitten with this style of shorts! I hope these types of shorts will stay around for years to come, as it seems like it's a classic. If not, however, none of the pairs I purchased were all that expensive. In fact, there are many affordable options in this style, some of which I'm showcasing below.

I decided to pair my paper-bag waist-style shorts with my "California" collector's tee. Since I live in California, this tee was a must have for my growing statement tee collection. Whenever I wear this tee, I always pair it with my watermelon bag, not because watermelons are quintessentially Californian but because the tee has a random watermelon on it! (I'm not sure why.) Plus, the watermelon looks great with red and white stripes, so it was the natural choice for this look.

Londontown Nail Polish

Did you know that members of the Royal Family are not allowed to wear dark or colorful nail polish to public events? Sorry Queen Elizabeth but I don't think I'd be able to live by that rule! Lucky for me, Londontown offers nail polishes in a fun array of colors in addition to more subdued and neutral colors, so there's something for everyone, even the Royals! Given all of the options, plus the fact that Londontown is vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free and 9-free (I'll explain that later), imagine my excitement when they asked me to try out some of their nail polishes and review them for my readers!

First, I'll talk about the colors because, as you all know, I'm all about color! I tried out the following colors from Londontown, which appear in the order shown in the lineup above: Brit of Love, Piccadilly Square, Amalfi Love, Out of Office, Notting the Fancy, and Guilty Pleasure. I just love the quirky, fun names and how many of them reference the company's British heritage! Also, the nail polish colors in real life are very true to how they are represented on the company's website, which makes finding your perfect shade quite easy!

The first color I tried was a yellow shade called Notting the Fancy. Not only was this my first time trying Londontown nail polish but it was also my first time wearing yellow nail polish! Overall, I found that the color was easy to apply and went on smoothly. While it's easy to get caught up in all of the fun color options Londontown has to offer, I also love that the brand's polishes are infused with botanicals like vitamin E and rapeseed oil, which help to nourish nails. Also, as I mentioned previously, all of Londontown's polishes are 9-free. If you don't know what this is, don't worry, I didn't either! What 9-free means is that the polishes are free of 9 potentially harmful chemicals: formaldehyde, camphor, toluene, DBP (dibutyl pthalate and phthalates), formaldehyde resin, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, parabens, and lead.

Londontown also offers a line of nail care products. As you can see from their letter below, it's recommended to use their nail hardener and base coat before applying the polish and then use their Gel Genius top coat to keep the color and shine looking fresh and chip free. After applying both of these to my nails, my polish is still going strong!

Overall, I'm really happy with the quality and longevity of the Londontown line of nail polish! I'm looking forward to trying out the other colors they sent me in the future and pairing them with some colorful outfits, which shouldn't be difficult because I have just about every color of the rainbow in my wardrobe! Londontown is truly a quality product that's fit for a queen or for a Los Angeles girl such as myself!

Just Peachy

For those of you who blog, do you ever do photo shoots and then just sort of forget about the pictures or perhaps they get put on the back burner only to discover them months later? Well, as July is rapidly coming to an end, I am realizing that I have a few posts from early June, such as this one, that I have yet to share! These pictures were actually taken during our trip at the beginning of June to Charleston, South Carolina. The goods news is that this palm skirt from Target that I am featuring is now on clearance for under $13! You can't beat that for such a fantastic skirt!

We took these photos on the day we left Charleston. It was the hottest and most humid day of the trip, which is saying a lot because Charleston is very hot and humid during the summer! Since we were going to be doing a fair amount of driving that day to our next destination, I wanted to wear something that would be comfortable for the car. Because this palm skirt has an elastic waist band and is made of cotton, it was perfect for the occasion. We took these photos a few blocks away from our lodgings after loading the car and although I didn't realize it at the time, the house I'm standing in front of matches my outfit to the point where I am almost camouflaged! It's just peachy!

Under the Sea

Since I love fish, I had my eye on this maxi dress from Anthropologie as soon as it came out at the beginning of summer, obviously because of the fun colorful fish print featured on the dress. The dress retailed for about $250, which I thought was a little steep, so I patiently waited for a sale. When it finally did go on sale a few weeks ago with an extra 25% off, I knew it was a good "catch"!

Speaking of discounts, I recently obtained discounted tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Since I love fish, it's only natural that I also love to go to aquariums and I knew that the aquarium would be the perfect place to wear my new fish dress! The only downside is that since it's 100% silk, I was a little afraid of getting water on it. Luckily, however, none of the sea life (or humans) splashed me! My husband and I also went out for a nice dinner after the aquarium on the Queen Mary, so it made sense to be a little more dressed up. Normally, however, I wouldn't be so formal for just a date at the aquarium because I don't think the fish really care what you wear!

Last of all, how could I not mentioned this fabulous wall? Like the aquarium, it's also located in Long Beach. I saw it on the Instagram accounts of a few people and I just had to know where it was located because it's amazing! When I found out it was in Long Beach, I figured I'd make a point to visit and take photos the next time I was in the area. This wall is actually located on the side of a children's party store if you can believe it! Regardless, I think it's the perfect complement to my under the sea fish ensemble!

The Perfect Summer Dress

When I was swiping through Instagram and I saw another blogger in this multicolored striped dress, my jaw dropped. My reaction was prompted, first and foremost, by the fact that the dress is gorgeous and, secondly, because I couldn't believe it was from Target! Just a few days prior to seeing this dress, I was looking at a similar dress from a designer that was hundreds of dollars, so you can imagine my excitement when I found this dress for under $30! Indeed, when I posted this dress to my Instagram account, many people echoed my "That's from Target?!" reaction as well!

I wore this dress for a leisurely stroll through Shoreline Village in Long Beach, California. Although I've been there a couple times before, I never realized just how colorful it is until now! (I think I probably last visited before I had my blog, so my eyes were not yet trained to constantly be on the look out for color!) Anyway, this dress was perfect, comfortable and cool for exploring the shops, restaurants and entertainment there. All in all, I would say this dress is among the most perfect outfits one could possible wear for summer!
