All Day Fraise!

I'm sure you've all heard the expression "All Day Rosé" but I'm here to coin a new expression: "All Day Fraise"! This cute strawberry tee shirt from LOFT has Fraise, the French word for "strawberry" on it, so my new expression would mean something like "Strawberries All Day"! To be honest, I don't speak much French, but I have learned some French through the various articles of clothing I have purchased with French words on them. I guess you could say that this tee is not only really cute but is also educational, at least if you want to learn French!

I think pairing cute fruit prints with gingham skirts is one of my new favorite combinations for spring! You might recall that a couple weeks ago I featured a cherry print sweater with a maxi length gingham skirt. I decided that I would replicate this formula with this strawberry tee shirt and a different gingham skirt. As you can see, not only do I have a lot of clothing with French words and phrases but I also have a lot of gingham skirts!

Forget it, Katie. It's Chinatown

I purchased this rainbow tulle skirt from J. Crew in the spring of 2020 right in the midst of the lock down. It was definitely not a practical purchase for the time, considering the fact that nobody could go anywhere then. Even if one wasn't in the midst of a lock down, a rainbow tulle skirt is not exactly an item of clothing that can be worn all the time. However, nearly two years later, I finally found an occasion to wear it. Perhaps I should say that I finally created an occasion to wear it! Last weekend, we went to Chinatown in Los Angeles and I thought this skirt was a perfect match for this fun building that is in the heart of the central plaza of Chinatown. I was definitely very dressed up for a stroll around Chinatown and for the burgers we got for lunch but I dressed the look down (if that's possible) with a love tee and a pair of sneakers, although the sneakers do have glitter on them!

There were a lot of people in Chinatown because this was the weekend before Lunar New Year. Chinatown has definitely gone through some changes since I first visited the area when I was in college. Now you can find a variety of restaurants, stores and art galleries in the area. As I mentioned, we chose to eat at a new burger place that is in the neighborhood, which was delicious! When we came back from our adventure, we decided to watch the film Chinatown, which really isn't about Chinatown and doesn't take place in Chinatown until the final scene but it was fun to have a day devoted to Chinatown, rainbow tulle and yummy burgers! They say nothing good happens in Chinatown but clearly that's not the case!

Party Animals!

Because I am officially off from work and enjoying my winter break, I feel like it's time to party! The problem is that there's no place to go out and party here! Besides, I'm the kind of person who would rather spend my time baking cookies or snuggling up on the sofa with my husband and/or my dog to watch a movie. William, my dog, is somewhat of a party animal but even he would rather stay in and snuggle as opposed to going out! So, whether you like going out or enjoy staying in, this cute Christmas "Safari" tee is the perfect thing to wear, just as long as you love animals. But who doesn't love animals? Especially cute zebras, lions and tigers (oh my!), bedecked in holiday lights!

While this tee is new, the sequin bow cardigan that I paired it with is an old favorite from the J. Crew of many years ago. I love layering this sweater over plaid for the holidays but I thought it would add some fun sparkle to my Christmas tee. I also am really loving all of the people on Instagram who are posting pictures of their colorful Christmas decor or outfits that help to show that Christmas outfits don't have to be limited to just the traditional colors of red, green and white or tartan plaid! I love the idea of having a pink Christmas or at least a pink Christmas outfit, which is why I also paired this tee with my pink pants. Again, while I look like I am ready to go out and party, the truth is that I actually wore this outfit out to run mundane errands!

Wander with Love

I'm back with another fun piece from the Uniqlo collaboration with Marimekko! This time around it's a wavy patterned striped skirt that I just adore! I decided to pair my skirt with a statement tee that reads, "Wander with Love".  While the skirt is new, I purchased this tee at least a couple years ago from Forever 21. Originally, I liked the message because I thought it would be perfect for all of the wandering I do around Los Angeles but, sadly, exploring the city isn't really much of an option right now. I did, however, explore a local park where I discovered these yellow wildflowers that I've never seen before. I also made friends with a Golden Retriever who wanted to show me his tennis ball and drool on my skirt! Luckily, since I love dogs, especially Golden Retrievers, I didn't mind. I guess this just goes to show that you can wander in your own backyard and still discover some amazing things!

In addition to my tee, I also decided to pair my skirt with some summery favorites like my straw circle bag and pom pom sandals! Whenever I wear these sandals, I always get a ton of compliments, which is understandable because they really do make a statement! The sandals are also super comfortable so I look forward to, hopefully, wandering with love in them sometime in the near future, perhaps even to someplace beyond the confines of a local park!

What Day of the Week Is It?

Like many of you, I'm at the point in my quarantine life where I have only a vague sense of what day it is. While I still have to keep track of assignments, meetings, etc. for work, the days sort of just blur together in a way that feels very foreign to anything that I have ever experienced before. Speaking of things that are foreign, or at least in a foreign language, how cute is this tee that features the day of the week in French? I actually had no idea what the words on the tee meant until I read the description on the website but, to be honest, the days of the week might as well be in a foreign language to me at this point!

I wore this outfit for a stroll, which has now become an at least daily ritual. About once a week, however, my husband and I, myself being dressed up, take a walk sans our dog, William, because he can be a little crazy when we stop and take too many pictures for too long of a time! While I'm not always as happy with the results as I might be if I had the luxury of going into the city to be photographed against a cool backdrop or a colorful wall, I'm starting to become less picky, which might, in the long run, be a good thing! (I also now know where all the bougainvillea is!) For this stroll, I paired my tee with a cute, orange skirt and summery knotted headband. It's not the normal thing I would wear to take a stroll but it felt nice to get somewhat dressed up for a little while and it was a nice distraction from whatever I was doing on whatever day it was!

Best Day Ever!

If you asked me what I would do for my best day ever, it would probably involve exploring Los Angeles (sans traffic) and eating some really great food, which is exactly what we did the day I wore this Best Day ever tee from Happily. As you know, I'm a big fan of the statement tee and this one, which was gifted to me by Happily, is now one of my favorites! Why? Well, it's a super soft and high quality tee and it's also so cute! Just looking at it brings a smile to my face! I think that no matter what you're doing, if you're wearing this tee you're going to have the best day ever!

So if you're wondering what I did the day I wore this outfit, we started the morning by going to Tiffany's Laundry (not to do laundry but to take these pictures!), which is where this amazing wall is located! This wall has been on my list of places to check out for a blog shoot for a long time and it did not disappoint. Next, we went to a pasta place in Culver City where they make fresh pasta in the most amazing sauces. Pasta is probably one of my favorite foods and I'm always thrilled when I find a place that takes the time to make it fresh. Finally, we went to the Hammer Museum, which is an art museum near the UCLA campus. All in all, it was a fun day made extra fun by my new statement tee!

Anthro Tag Sale Finds

I've been shopping at Anthropologie for a very, very long time now! When I first fell in love with the store, they very rarely had sales, so if you wanted something you were most likely going to pay full price. Now, it seems like they have sales on a fairly regular basis and then on top of the sales they offer an extra 20 to 40 percent off. I'm not sure if that speaks well of how they are doing as a company but as a consumer, I have to say that I love these sales! Last week, I placed an order with Anthropologie to take advantage of this sale and my order included this fun abstract skirt!

The way the skirt was styled on the Anthro website was with a vintage looking statement tee. While I didn't purchase the exact tee that the skirt was paired with on the website, I did find a tee that I already own from J. Crew that I think looks just as good, if not better! This tee is also supposed to look a little vintage, which, perhaps, gives the outfit a slight retro vibe. The tee also highlights different attractions in Italy, which reminds me of a trip I took there years ago in college. While I would have liked to have shot these pictures in Italy, sadly, that was not possible at the time, so I opted for a location that was decidedly less glamorous. Maybe one day I'll be able to go back to Italy and, if I do, this would definitely be the perfect tee to bring!
