Menswear Inspired Valentine's Day Look

While today is Galentine's Day, I am featuring a Valentine's Day themed look that is inspired by menswear! I love how these heart chinos are a fun twist on a classic! To keep with the menswear theme, I am pairing the chinos with a striped button down shirt. What makes this shirt unique, yet feminine are the red and pink stripes. Red and pink just might be my favorite color combo for not just Valentine's Day but all year round!

While the chinos and button down are very menswear inspired, I had to add some accessories to give the look a feminine touch. To play on the colors in the outfit, I accessorized with red heels and a matching red crossbody bag. The finishing touch for the look is a pink belt to pull all the colors together. Last, but not least, my heart sunglasses play off of the heart print in the pants!

Valentine's Day Blazers

While blazers might not be the most romantic article of clothing, there are plenty of blazer options that are perfect for Valentine's Day! This red and pink houndstooth blazer is, in my opinion, perfect for Valentine's Day! Red and pink is one of my favorite color combos, especially this time of the year.  I think this blazer, when paired with a feminine tulle skirt, makes for the perfect Valentine's Day look. Below, you will find some other wonderful blazer options that I love for Valentine's Day, or any occasion!

I'd like to think that this outfit is very Carrie Bradshaw in the opening credits of Sex in the City! In fact, when I was getting ready the morning I took these photos, my husband commented that this look was very reminiscent of Carrie's. This inspired me to make a reel with me in this skirt, sans blazer, to the theme music of the show that I will be posting to Instagram in the upcoming weeks!

Wearing My Heart on My Sleeve

Now that it's almost February, I'm officially ready to delve into all things heart-themed this week! While a lot of stores have some cute heart-themed items, no one did the heart and Valentine's Day theme better than J. Crew Factory this year, in my opinion! This is one of two Valentine's Day looks that I will feature from them in the coming weeks on my blog. I love this cute, yet classic, heart button down shirt to celebrate Valentine's Day! It can be layered under a sweater or, as I am wearing it here, with a pair of white jeans and some red accessories.

Speaking of jeans, are you a fan of white jeans in the winter? Years ago, I would have never thought of wearing white jeans during this time of year, but now they are one of my go-to staples in the wintertime! White always looks so chic with red and/or pink, so these white jeans are perfect for all of my Valentine's Day looks! Plus, despite the cool weather, spring is right around the corner, so why not start anticipating the new season with some fresh white jeans?

It's Never Too Early For Valentine's Day!

I filmed this red and pink outfit, complete with heart bag, a couple weeks ago, which was the beginning of January. My husband's response was, "Isn't it a little early to do Valentine's Day content?" (Actually, I'm not sure if he used the world "content"!) Anyway, it's never too early for Valentine's Day, in my opinion. Plus, I think everyone is in a little bit of a slump after the holidays are over, and the January blues start setting in, so looking forward to Valentine's Day is always fun. Last of all, many of the pieces that I picked up on clearance after Christmas can be converted into Valentine's Day looks! Take, for example, these pink lace pants and this red jeweled turtleneck. Both pieces came out for the holiday season, but I repurposed them for Valentine's Day. Because I am in love with these lace pants, I have linked to a few more options below!

Red and pink is one of my favorite color combos for Valentine's Day. In addition to the colors, I think the accessories really make this a Valentine's Day look. I purchased this heart bag at Target a few years ago and it's definitely one of my go to bags this time of the year! I also get a lot of use out of these YSL heart sunglasses. Again, getting back to my husband, he asked if I only wear them around Valentine's Day, and I told him I wear them around Christmas too, because they are read and really can be worn all year round! Come to think about it, my husband takes all of my pictures, so I'm not sure what the deal is with these questions!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I have to be honest: I'm a little bit bummed that Valentine's Day falls on a Monday this year, especially because it's the Monday after the Super Bowl. Because of this, my husband and I celebrated a little bit early and had a Valentine's date night out on Saturday rather than on the actual day because of this. I'm a big fan of just staying in and having a casual dinner anyway, so I guess it's really no big deal. Valentine's Day actually isn't my favorite holiday but it's most definitely one of my favorite holidays to dress for! For example, I probably have too many heart sweaters but, this year, I had to add this cute pink and red heart sweater to my collection! While heart sweaters are, obviously, perfect for celebrating Valentine's Day, you can really wear them all winter long, in my opinion!

I decided to wear my new heart sweater with a skirt that I purchased a couple years ago from J. Crew Factory. This was another purchase that I got during the very first month of the pandemic and, therefore, I just sort of forgot about it due to the fact that I couldn't wear it for over a year! Well, it was fun to discover this skirt again in my closet and find a way to style it for Valentine's Day.

I think my newest obsession might be berets, so I thought I'd top off the look with a red beret for a little Parisian flair! My husband and I actually went out to a French restaurant this weekend but I didn't actually wear a beret there, which would have been the one time it was really fitting! Unfortunately, it was over 90 degrees here this weekend, which is less than ideal weather for wool berets!

A Gothic Kind of Love

In honor of Valentine's Day this month, I've been on the lookout for murals and spots around Los Angeles that are love themed. So, when I discovered this mural by Dean Stockton, also known as D*Face, I thought it would be great place to checkout in celebration of Valentine's Day because the characters are kissing. While this mural features two lovers engrossed in a passionate kiss, one can't help but notice that they are a bit gothic looking and maybe even dead! It's a cool and dark spin on pop art, which makes it all the more intriguing. I decided to wear my purple jumpsuit on this particular day. While the jumpsuit is from last year, there are a few almost exact ones that I've linked to below in case you're dying to get your hands on a purple jumpsuit too!

In addition to visiting this cool mural, we also went to a retro diner in the area called The Tallyrand. The Tallyrand has been around since 1959 and is a popular place to dine in the Burbank area. I love finding places that take you back to a different time in Los Angeles' past, so this restaurant was right up my alley. We had a great lunch there and overheard some locals talking about a possible suspect in the very dark Black Dahlia murder case. Overhearing the conversation about this infamous murder definitively complemented the dark and gothic vibe of the mural!

Wearing my Heart on my Tee

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so I'm trying to pull all of my red, pink, and heart themed items of clothing out of the closet and wear them in the upcoming week! This month, I found this cute heart tee at Gap and thought it would be perfect for Valentine's Day! I also love the top because the anthropomorphic heart is the artwork of pop artist Keith Haring. I actually bought a couple tees from this Gap and Keith Haring collaboration because I love anything that combines art and fashion! You will see the other tee I purchased from the collaboration and how I styled it next week on my blog but I thought I would start with the heart tee because of Valentine's Day!

I thought that this heart tee would be a perfect match for these plaid pink and red pants that I purchased last year at Anthropologie. Red and pink is one of my favorite color combinations, especially this time of the year. When I first wore these pants at the end of the summer, I made a mental note that I should bring them out again for Valentine's Day because the color combo makes them perfect for the holiday! While Valentine's Day is actually not my favorite holiday, as you can see, it is one of my favorite holidays to dress for due to the color combinations and my affinity for hearts!
