Wearing My Heart on My Sleeve

 

Now that it's almost February, I'm officially ready to delve into all things heart-themed this week! While a lot of stores have some cute heart-themed items, no one did the heart and Valentine's Day theme better than J. Crew Factory this year, in my opinion! This is one of two Valentine's Day looks that I will feature from them in the coming weeks on my blog. I love this cute, yet classic, heart button down shirt to celebrate Valentine's Day! It can be layered under a sweater or, as I am wearing it here, with a pair of white jeans and some red accessories.

 

Speaking of jeans, are you a fan of white jeans in the winter? Years ago, I would have never thought of wearing white jeans during this time of year, but now they are one of my go-to staples in the wintertime! White always looks so chic with red and/or pink, so these white jeans are perfect for all of my Valentine's Day looks! Plus, despite the cool weather, spring is right around the corner, so why not start anticipating the new season with some fresh white jeans?

Pom Poms for Days!

Pom poms were all the rage last year and clearly they are not going anywhere anytime soon! I'm actually glad that the pom pom trend is here to stay because who doesn't love pom poms? (Plus, I've "invested" in numerous pom pom items!) There is just something about pom poms, especially when they are bright and colorful, that always puts a smile on my face, which is why I love this pom pom shirt from SheIn so much! Not only does the neckline have some fun, multi-colored pom poms on it, it also has colorful embroidery. Basically, it's my perfect top for summer!

Because of all of the colors featured in this top it was difficult choosing accessories. I knew I wanted to go bold to bring our the colors in the embroidery, but there's so many options! Ultimately I decided on a pop of yellow with my bag and blue sandals from Target because blue and yellow always look so good together. In the future I would definitely rock this top with some colored jeans and more neutral accessories or shorts if it's really hot out. Hopefully, pom poms will be around for seasons to come so that I can try all of these combos out! Why just have pom poms for days when you can have pom poms for years?

Breaking the Rules

How do you feel about wearing white after Labor Day? Personally, I think it's one of those fashion rules that you always hear about but that now seems outdated. I wore this particular outfit of white jeans and this gorgeous floral top from SheIn last week on Labor Day. I figured that if it's my last day to wear white, I might as well go out with a bang! Since I'm posting this after Labor Day, it technically makes me a rule breaker, but I don't care, as you can clearly see from the expression on my face in the first photo. Plus, as I previously stated, I'm not sure if I can abide by this "no whites after Labor Day" rule anyway!

Speaking of breaking the rules and going out with a bang, this frilly top not only features a traditional floral print (it also comes in a lovely striped version too!) but it also has a gorgeous surprise in back. It's also a tremendous bang for the buck, coming in at under $20!  I hesitate to say it, but it's a bit like a mullet: business in the front, party in the back! Yes, I said it: the top is like a mullet, albeit a very beautiful and fashionable mullet, if that's at all possible!
