Halloween Outfit Ideas

I love all of the holidays, but Halloween is probably my favorite! I definitely love decorating, dressing and finding fun places to celebrate the spooky season. With Halloween right around the corner, I have pulled out some of my favorite Halloween looks to celebrate! I'm starting with this cute purple ghost cardigan! While we normally associate just wearing black with dressing for Halloween, you can also make it colorful as I did by pairing this purple ghost sweater with bright pink pants!

Next, I'm just batty about this fun tulle bat skirt! I love that it's got a little bit of orange underneath for a bit of color! I paired the skirt with this feather tee shirt from J. Crew because the feathers are chic but can also be a bit spooky!

Last off all, I can't get enough of this fa-Boo-lous ghost cardigan sweater, so I also got it in black. I paired this sweater with some black check pants. Since I rarely wear all black, so I had to add some pops of color to the look with my orange loafers and purple bag!

Hi, Barbie!

With the release of the new Barbie movie less than a day away, it seems like everywhere you look everything is Barbie! Thinking more on it, Barbie-mania has been going on for months now, but who can resist indulging in all things pink in celebration of the release of the movie? So, in celebration of the Barbie movie, I am styling this pink and white striped button down top, which is definitely something I think Barbie would wear, with a few different skirts. This pink and white top is so versatile and goes with so much in my wardrobe that I can't choose which skirt I liked it best with!

As you can see, the skirts featured in this post all have a tropical theme with pineapples, palms, and flamingo prints. While I am featuring different skirts, I kept the same accessories for all of the outfits. I definitely think both this fun pink straw bag and my metallic pink shoes would be accessories found in Barbie's closet! You will notice that there are also several colorful murals that I am using for this post. The good news is that these murals can all be found at Dot's Cafe in Pasadena! Because the murals are all pink, or at least have some pink found in them, I think Barbie would approve of them too!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and this year I went all out trying to find fun, free, and Instagramable locations in Los Angeles to celebrate the "spooky season." There's a lot of content I share on Instagram that I don't share on my blog, so I thought I would feature some of my favorite Instagram posts celebrating Halloween here on my blog today! The first one, featured above, is the gigantic pumpkin at the Citadel Outlets in the city of Commerce. They have a gigantic pumpkin called "Big Jack" that is adorable!

My second location is the Heritage Hill Historical Park in Lake Forest. This location features many historic buildings including the above school house from 1890. For Halloween, this park puts on a Fall-O-Ween celebration that is very family friendly and fun! I love how they decorated the school house with pumpkins for a lovely autumnal vibe!

When I was a child, Michael Jackson's Thriller was probably my favorite album. I would rock out in the car to the song "Thriller" and loved the music video as well. So, as you can imagine, it was "thrilling" as an adult to get to see the Thriller house where part of the iconic music video was filmed. This house can be found on Carroll Avenue near Echo Park in Los Angeles. While I didn't quite strike a Thriller-esque dance move here, I tried to look a little witchy and spooky in a black velvet dress. With an impressive street of Victorian houses that are all decorated for Halloween, this is one neighborhood that I wouldn't mind Trick-or-Treating in!

Last but not least, the Roast the Dead coffee shop in Yucaipa is the perfect place for any fans of classic horror films from the 80s. I don't drink coffee but the mural, featuring the likes of Freddy Krueger and Jason, makes it well worth the trek from Los Angeles. It's a fun place to visit if you're on your way to Apple Country or Palm Springs. Unfortunately, there was a line to get in, so I couldn't see the horror themed decor on the inside but I will have to go again to check it out when it's not so close to Halloween!

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July! There's no better way to celebrate Independence Day than to wear some red, white and blue and to stand against a gigantic mural of the American flag, while waving the American flag! I stumbled on this mural months ago and made a mental note of the location so that I could return for the Fourth of July. It's actually a car audio store, but it makes for a great patriotic background!

I'm keeping my outfit simple today with a red, white and blue striped tee and a scallop chambray skirt. It's a bit hard to see in the pictures but I also have a pair of lobster earrings on. I thought the lobster earrings would be the perfect way to add a little something fun and summery to this outfit. If you want to see what I'm really wearing today, you can scroll down to the last picture with me and William! I don't think that William will be wearing those sunglasses all day today (they fell off about two seconds after taking the picture!) but he wanted to show that he could be a patriotic pup! So, no matter what you're doing to celebrate the holiday, I hope you enjoy the day and get to spend some quality time with friends and family!
