Pink Striped Maxi Skirt

I just got this pink and white maxi skirt and I wanted to wear it before it gets to officially be fall, which is right around the corner! It's hard to believe that it's almost October, although the weather here lately in California surprisingly feels very much like fall, which doesn't usually happen until much later in the year. Anyway, I was happy to get this skirt, which I had been looking at all summer, on sale! I thought it would be the perfect thing to wear out to dinner last week for a night on the town! Of course, I had to pair it with some green accessories, including this new green clutch, because green and pink is one of my favorite color combinations.

Just a quick note about the location: these photos were taken at Pasadena City Hall. If you are not familiar with this location, it was actually the setting for the exterior shots of Pawnee City Hall on the TV show, Parks and Rec. Pasadena City Hall is also a very popular location for people to do professional photography for weddings and other events. The fountain that appears in a couple of these pictures is the most popular place for photos, so I lucked out when it was free for a few minutes so that I could get some pictures by it!

Bountiful Bows

Earlier in the week, I posted about a casual Christmas look that I am likely to wear on Christmas Day. Today, I'm doing a complete 180 and showing an elegant, dressed up look that would be perfect for a party or going out to a special event during the holidays! When I saw this maxi length taffeta bow skirt online right before Black Friday, it was love at first sight! I really love the bows and this skirt has bows galore! I also love the combination of pink and red together for a fun color combo. It should be noted that this skirt also comes in a black and white version for a more traditional look.

To be honest, I don't think I will really have anywhere special to wear this outfit this year but sometimes it's fun just to get dressed up for no reason at all! I'm also a big fan of mixing dressy pieces, such as this skirt, with casual, everyday pieces, which could be a future styling option. So, while I dressed up this look with a black turtleneck and patent leather pumps, I could easily see rocking this skirt with a sweatshirt and sneakers. I know my husband, who is not a fan of mixing high and low, will hate it, but I might just have to give it a try to spite him!

Villa Skirt

Last week I was at Anthropologie and I spotted this gorgeous Villa skirt by Eva Franco on the sale rack! I had seen it online but it was only after seeing it in person that I fell in love! The thing that attracted me to this skirt was, obviously, the print depicting a vast array of colorful buildings. While Anthropologie carries many brands, I'm always drawn to anything they carry from the designer Eva Franco. There is just something about the quality (most of her items are made in the USA) and the whimsical designs that draw me in every time!

My husband, who was shopping with me when I purchased this skirt, commented that the skirt might be a little too "boho" for me and looked more like something I would have worn a decade or more ago. My style has definitely evolved quite a bit over the years and, yes, it's true that when I was in college and for many years after, my style was more boho than it is now. I can definitely see that influence in the silhouette of the skirt but, again, it was the print that ultimately won me over. Plus, if it is a little boho, I like the nod to how I used to dress many years ago. I suppose it makes me feel younger!
