Pink Striped Maxi Skirt

I just got this pink and white maxi skirt and I wanted to wear it before it gets to officially be fall, which is right around the corner! It's hard to believe that it's almost October, although the weather here lately in California surprisingly feels very much like fall, which doesn't usually happen until much later in the year. Anyway, I was happy to get this skirt, which I had been looking at all summer, on sale! I thought it would be the perfect thing to wear out to dinner last week for a night on the town! Of course, I had to pair it with some green accessories, including this new green clutch, because green and pink is one of my favorite color combinations.

Just a quick note about the location: these photos were taken at Pasadena City Hall. If you are not familiar with this location, it was actually the setting for the exterior shots of Pawnee City Hall on the TV show, Parks and Rec. Pasadena City Hall is also a very popular location for people to do professional photography for weddings and other events. The fountain that appears in a couple of these pictures is the most popular place for photos, so I lucked out when it was free for a few minutes so that I could get some pictures by it!

Baby, You're a Firework!

Originally, I intended this to be a post leading up to New Year's Eve, but I somehow got a little behind on blogging, even though I have a lot of content to post! I love the time between Christmas and the New Year when time just ceases to exist and you don't know what day it is. I wasn't very productive, but I was very relaxed! Anyway, I thought this would be a perfect New Year's Eve post at the time, because my skirt features these fun stars and firecrackers, which are very festive! Luckily, this skirt is now on major sale, so you can still get it and wear it for just about any occasion, not just the New Year!

In addition to the firework motif, the other thing that I love about this skirt is the fun explosion of colors! As usual, because of all of the colors, I had trouble figuring out which colors I should pair with the skirt. I decided to pretty much just go for all the colors and completed the look with a cozy orange sweater, pink satin bag, and the finishing touch of these green satin bow shoes. Just like the skirt, my outfit is also an explosion of color and texture!

Fruitastic Fashion!

They say you should get your daily recommended serving of fruits and vegetables everyday but what if you could also wear your fruits and vegetables? Well, this fun fruit sweatshirt is the perfect way to get a healthy dose of fruits and fashion! From cherries to strawberries to bananas to pineapples, this sweatshirt is not just fantastic, it's fruitastic! I really love that this sweatshirt has such a cheerful vibe with the colorful embroidered fruit! I wore this outfit last week on what I think might be the last "cool" day that we will have before the very hot summer temperatures start setting in here in Southern California.

In keeping with the fruit theme, I paired this sweatshirt with my new sequin strawberry bag from Zara. I also bought a similar lemon bag from Zara as well, because, as you can see, I'm crazy about fruit lately! Apparently, fruit is very big for fashion this spring and summer, but that's understandable because it's both healthy to eat it and fun to wear!

The Perfect Christmas Sweater

I think I found the perfect sweater to wear for Christmas! This festive Christmas sweater from Boden has it all: it's colorful, it's cute and it's very Christmassy! My favorite part of the sweater is that it depicts rows of adorable snowmen, gingerbread men, and little birds decked out in pom pom hats. While many people like to wear what's known as an "ugly Christmas sweater" around the holidays, I think this sweater finds a nice balance between being fun and festive, without being gaudy! I also like that you can wear it with just a pair of jeans and cute loafers for a casual look. It's definitely what I'm going to be wearing this year to celebrate Christmas Day!

Due to the fact that Boden is a British company, I thought it was only fitting to take these photos by these traditional British phone booths! It was a nice surprise to find out that the small shopping center they're located in had also decorated for Christmas, adding to the festive feel. Boden could definitely use this location for their next catalog but I guess they have plenty of these across the pond!

Pink, Green and Leopard

Unfortunately, the weather here has become very, very hot! In fact, if you didn't look at the calendar, you would most definitely think it was the middle of summer in Los Angeles instead of November! I would prefer that the weather felt more like fall for a lot of reasons, one being that I just purchased a few sweaters for the holidays and I have been anxious to wear them and finally enjoy "sweater weather." Well, for the sake of publishing this outfit on my blog, I did wear this pink and green floral sweater last week, despite the 90 degree weather. (Truth be told, I brought a tee shirt to change into after the photos!)

I'm a big fan of a lot of color combinations but pink and green is probably one of my favorites! I know that this particular color combo is usually associated with spring but I think Boden did a lovely job with making this a beautiful sweater for the spring, fall, and winter months, as it's a nice heavy material (although not good for our hot weather!) and the beaded embroidery gives it a little sparkle to make it somewhat festive! I decided that this particular sweater would look lovely with leopard silk pants for a more luxurious look. Once the weather cools off, I can't wait to wear it again and I'll probably pair it with some dark washed jeans. Hopefully, the weather will cool off soon so that I can give that a try!

Embellished Insect Cardigan

I really love a sweater with unique details, especially in the form of embellished details. Luckily, around the holidays you start seeing these types of sweaters pop-up everywhere! This unique embellished insect cardigan with beaded scarab beetles was right up my alley. While this sweater was a little on the pricey side, one thing I was really impressed with was the quality of the sweater and the embroidery. Even my husband liked it, despite the price, and he's a pretty tough critic when it comes to many things, my clothing included!

I decided to go for more of a preppy look when styling this sweater. I purchased these blue and white flared pants last year and I actually hadn't yet worn them. (Keep in mind that I spent most of last year on Zoom, so dressy bottoms were non-existent!) I thought these pants were the perfect complement to the navy sweater. With the gold accents in the scarab embroidery, I also decided on some gold loafers and a gold headband to top things off. Like I said, this outfit was a hit with my husband, who likes more classic styles. I like to think that this style is classic, with a quirky and fun twist!

Blue Skies Ahead!

There's just something about looking at a blue sky with puffy white clouds that is so comforting and relaxing, so why not have a sweater with blue skies and white clouds on it? Last month, I fell in love with a cashmere cloud sweater from Boden but I didn't quite feel like spending the money on it, so I looked for more affordable options. Luckily, when I Googled "Cloud Sweater", I came across this blue one from LOFT that was more affordable! (Although I might still get the Boden version if it goes on sale because it's pink, thus making it different than this one!) Anyway, this sweater definitely makes you feel optimistic and light as air! It's almost like you're walking on cloud nine!

Initially, I thought this sweater would look good with just a simple pair of white jeans but I then decided to go with a pop of color and opted for pink pants. Pink and blue is always a lovely combination and I also thought it would look fabulous against this rainbow wall that has been one of my favorite murals to take photos at in the Los Angeles area. One of the things that makes me wary about this location is that, technically, you are not supposed to take photos here. (I wrote a whole post about this last summer!) Well, I lucked out because there was no security in sight until the end of the photoshoot and when the security person did arrive, she just walked by like there was nothing to see. So, maybe, I lucked out or, maybe, the cloud sweater made her feel mellow and happy too!
