Purple and Gold

I feel like this Eva Franco maxi skirt could easily be mistaken for a Van Gogh because it is indeed a work of art! This skirt is another one of my Black Friday purchases from this year and it's perfect for the holidays because of hints of gold woven into the fabric of this lovely abstract floral print! As you can see, due to the print and the voluminous nature of the skirt, it definitely makes a statement! I paired the skirt with a lilac cashmere sweater and a pair of saffron suede kitten heels from Alley shoes to complete the look.

Speaking of the shoes, I have really gotten a lot of use out of these Ally kitten heels since being gifted them last month! I can certainly say with confidence that they are my most comfortable pair of heels and the color goes with just about everything in my wardrobe! You can save $40 on your first pair of heels with Ally with code Hellokatie40 at checkout.  You can also save 10% on Ally flats by using code Katiegirl10 at checkout. Now is a great time to treat yourself to a comfy pair of shoes that you will enjoy all year long!

Strawberry Shortcake

I love eating strawberries! In fact, they are one of my favorite fruits, especially when dipped in chocolate! But I also love to wear them as well! This strawberry skirt is definitely, fruity, fabulous and perfect for anyone who likes strawberries or quirky, whimsical clothing! I'm thinking that the theme of fruit-inspired prints is going to be really big this spring in fashion because I'm already seeing a ton of cherry prints, strawberry prints, and prints that, quite frankly, are reminiscent of fruit salad everywhere I look this season! I guess I've already jumped on board with this fun fruit trend that I see for spring!

One of the other things that I like about this skirt is that it combines red with pink, which just might be one of my favorite color combinations. I wanted to really emphasize the pink in the skirt by wearing this pointelle sweater, which I thought would be perfect with the skirt in terms of color. The only drawback is that it was very hot the day I wore this outfit and, in some respects, I wished I had selected a cooler option than a sweater! However, the open weave of the sweater did make it somewhat cooler than most sweaters. To top off my fruity look, I also opted for my red heart sunglasses, which you might have thought I put away until Valentine's Day but I think they add just the right amount of red to really sweeten my strawberry shortcake inspired look!

It's Like 10,000 Spoons

Eva Franco, one of my favorite brands from Anthropologie, has done it again with this spoon skirt! A couple weeks ago, I walked into my local Anthro store and saw it hanging on the rack. Obviously, I instantly fell in love with this skirt because who doesn't want a skirt that has a bunch of spoons on it? Since I love to cook, I thought the print was especially appropriate for me! Also, I was able to get the 20% off teacher discount on the skirt thanks to a promo Anthro is running for teachers, which made it a little bit more reasonably priced. With the teacher discount and the Anthro Day promo, which is still running this weekend so everyone can save at Anthro, it's a nice way to refresh your wardrobe for the upcoming school year or fall!

In case you were wondering about the title of this post, it comes from the Alanis Morissette song "Ironic".  If you remember that song from the '90s, there's a line that states, "It's like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife", which isn't actually ironic at all, but that's how it goes. Maybe Alanis was just trying to be ironic by writing a song called "Ironic" that has nothing to do with irony or maybe she just missed that lesson in her English class. Regardless, it's still somewhat of a catchy song and I thought because this is such an eye-catching skirt, it would be the perfect title for a most perfect skirt!

Sunbathers

The minute I saw this "Sunbathers" skirt from Anthropologie, it was love at first sight! I was head over heels for the whimsical, somewhat retro design of the print, which features women in bathing suits sunning themselves on tropical leaves. The skirt is from one of my favorite designers that Anthropologie carries, Eva Franco. I adored this skirt so much that I payed retail for it, although I did use a coupon that I received for filling out a survey, for fear that it might sell out! The good news is that if you are a teacher, you can get 20% off full price purchases at Anthropologie through October 7 with your teacher ID card in stores or online. It definitely makes items like this one a little bit more affordable and you'll have something stylish to wear on the first day of school!

Another thing I like about this skirt is that it has a tie and buttons in the front, which makes it super stylish, but there's also an elastic band in the back, which makes it super comfortable! I love this skirt so much that I have already worn it several times this summer. Since I was going out to a nice dinner on this particular occasion, I paired the skirt with a yellow ruffle top to bring out some of the colors in the bathers' suits but the skirt also works well with a statement tee. Well, what doesn't go with a statement tee? I think in the future, I might dedicate an entire post to wearing statement tees, so stay tuned!

Bohemian Fish

You might have to look very closely, but my skirt for today actually features swimming fish! The fish were probably the first things that drew my attention to this Betta A-line skirt from Anthropologie, as I've always loved fish. Plus, the skirt is by one of my favorite designers, Eva Franco. Another reason for loving the skirt is that it reminds me of the things that I used to wear in college. I had a ton of these longer length skirts that had sort of a Bohemian feel to them "back in the day". Wearing the skirt definitely made me feel young again, almost as if I was taking a stroll down memory lane!

Regarding a Bohemian feel, I decided to play up this aspect of the skirt by pairing it with some straw accessories. Even though I just purchased this round circle tote, it's now become a staple in my spring wardrobe because it holds everything, it's cute, and it also has a tassel! To match, I also broke out these new pom pom straw slides from H&M. As of late, H&M has come out with some really cute shoes and they are all so reasonably priced. So, as you can see, from head to toe I am channeling a little bit of Bohemia, not to mention a bit of nostalgia!

Purple Rainbow

Sometimes it's dangerous to go into Anthropologie, especially when they are having a sale! Last weekend, was one of those times! I was doing some Christmas shopping and I thought I would just quickly pop into Anthropologie to check out their sale. There was nothing in particular that I was looking for, but I found a few treasures in the sale section, including this tulle skirt from one of my favorite designers, Eva Franco.

Even though I don't need another tulle skirt, there was just something about this one that I really loved. That same day at Anthropologie, I also got a great denim jacket that will be making its debut on my blog later this week! So, perhaps you are wondering: did I get some gifts for other people? Well, not at Anthropologie, no, but I did at other stores. Truthfully, I feel that most people probably end up getting a little something (or more!) for themselves while doing holiday shopping, so I don't feel too guilty, especially when stores like Anthropologie are having fantastic sales this time of the year!

Last of all, I am back at one of my favorite walls, which is located on the side of an apartment building in North Hollywood. It feels good to infuse a dose of color back into my posts! During the holiday season, I tend to be clad in more muted colors and, of course, red. This post, however, is full of color! Since purple is my favorite color, this wall is one of my favorites in the L.A. area. I know I keep putting it off, but I do intend to post my "wall guide" to Los Angeles at some point, perhaps next week when I am on Christmas break!
