Like a Plaid Present

There are only a few days left until Christmas and between wrapping up the end of the semester, wrapping presents, finishing piles of grading, and preparing to make Christmas dinner on Sunday, I've been very busy, to say the least. Luckily, dressing for the holidays makes this frantic time of the year feel more festive and fun. Sure, I might have to buy fifty million things from the grocery store, but why not look like a plaid present while doing it?

I was on the fence about getting this tie bow-shoulder top in festive plaid from J. Crew, but I am sure glad that I did! It's so versatile that it can be worn with so many different items. Today I am wearing it with a black turtleneck sweater underneath to keep out some of the chill of the cooler weather we've had lately. I also styled it with a fun sequin bow cardigan and jeans, although I didn't get any pictures of that ensemble. I wanted to photograph that particular outfit with this top, but we had a downpour of rain yesterday that impeded my ability to do so.  I guess you'll just have to wait until next year to see that!
