The title of my post comes not from breaking up relationships but, rather, breaking up this rainbow skirt and matching top set that I posted last month on my blog. When I originally posted this rainbow skirt and top on my blog here, I paired them together, which gave the effect of the two separate pieces being a dress. Many people in real life and in the comment section of my blog and Instagram did indeed perceive the two pieces as a dress, so in this post I'm showcasing how they can be styled independently, staring with this rainbow skirt!
I always love pairing skirts with statement tees, especially in the summer! There's no better statement tee than one that reads "Summer Fridays" because who doesn't like summer Fridays? I actually already had this same tee in a sort of rust color that I purchased last year but, obviously, I liked it so much that I got the blue version this year!

Up next is the rainbow top that matches the skirt. I wore this top to see a gallery show featuring artwork inspired by Hello Kitty, which was in the Arts District of Los Angeles. This top, in my opinion, another the perfect summer top and, I suppose, also the perfect top for some casual gallery hopping! When fall comes, I plan putting a cardigan over it, making it a sort of nice colorful camisole.
For this outfit, I styled the colorful top with a pair of simple white jeans and red suede pumps. I just purchased a pair of red jeans, which happen to be the same color as these pumps and I thought this could be another option for styling my rainbow top sometime in the near future. As you can see, when it comes to separates like this rainbow skirt and top, sometimes breakups are a good thing!

I think that is the best thing about a matching set - so many more ways to style! The top looks effortless with your white jeans.
