Pineapple Party!

A few weeks ago I purchased this lovely pleated pineapple skirt from Talbots. It was only after I purchased the skirt that I came to realize that I own a few other pineapple skirts already! Regardless, you can never have too many pineapples! As evidence of this, let me point out that Kate Spade just released their new arrivals for June and the theme for the month seems to be largely centered around, you guessed it, pineapples! This includes a darling pineapple novelty bag that I am very tempted to get. Clearly, the pineapple trend is still going strong for summer!

I paired my new pineapple skirt with these pom pom shoes from Anthropologie. If they look familiar, that's because I also own them in blue with multi-colored pom poms, which I featured here in a previous blog post. In addition to the festive pom poms, one thing that I love about these shoes is that the heel is low and thus the shoes are very comfortable. Now you can understand why I own them in two different colors! As you can see, I like to buy multiples of things, be it pom pom shoes or pineapple skirts!

Art Float

I hope everyone had a lovely Memorial Day weekend. It's amazing how the three days just fly by! This weekend I did a little bit of exploring around Riverside, California. The main purpose of my sojourn to this part of Southern California was to visit the "Art Float" project at Fairmount Park. As you can see, this project, which is sponsored by the Riverside Art Museum, features hundreds of hand painted beach ball-like spheres that have been placed in a lake for visitors to view. It does make for quite the spectacle indeed! My husband and I definitely enjoyed taking a stroll around the park while gawking at these colorful orbs!

Of course I had to wear something that was colorful and playful to match the exhibit, so it was the perfect occasion to break out my polka dot Marimekko shift dress from Uniqlo! I've been looking for an excuse to wear this dress for quite sometime now and I love how the gigantic polka dots echo the floating balls! I felt just a tad overdressed compared to most of the other visitors in the park (I guess clothes like these are no longer really park attire!) but I definitely don't mind being a little overdressed. (I didn't actually wear this ensemble especially for the park, as my husband and I went there after having lunch at the Mission Inn, another thing that can't be missed in Riverside.)

Unfortunately, this "Art Float" project will only be up until June 1st because it was only meant to last three weeks. That means if you want to see it before it disappears, run, don't walk to it! As you can see, I do have my tennis sneakers on, so I guess in that respect I was prepared to run on over to it too!

Tropical Palazzo Pants

Lately, I can't get my mind off of tropical prints! From colorful flowers to pineapples to swaying palm trees, I've worn it all this week! I have a sneaking suspicion that my recent obsession with these prints has something to do with me wanting to be on vacation! Luckily, my vacation is rapidly approaching! My new favorite tropical print item is the tropical palazzo pants from Target! They are the perfect pants to start getting me into vacation mode!

What I love about these pants is not only the fun tropical print (the flowers are on top of stripes!) but also the cute paper bag waist. They also fit perfectly (for reference, I'm wearing a size 4), which is something that I often find difficult in regard to pants. All in all, these are comfortable, fun and I look forward to wearing them all summer long!

I'd like to think that the impression you get from these photos is that I am standing in front of my palazzo in Italy but in actuality it's just a back alley near a florist! While it isn't as glamorous as a palazzo, it did indeed turn out to be the perfect location for taking a leisurely stroll in my new pants!

Stripes, Sequins and Palm Trees

When I saw this striped sequin palm tree tee at Target, it went straight into my cart! Plus, the under $20 price made it all the more enticing! While I've said this probably a million times before, Target is really killing it for the spring/summer season. In fact, today I got a package in the mail with a few more articles of clothing from Target! I am really looking forward to styling these pieces and debuting them soon on the blog!

In terms of styling for this outfit, I decided to keep it simple with a denim skirt and white sneakers. Truth be told, these white sneakers (also from Target) were probably one of the best investments I've made for spring! I wear them all a time and found that they are a comfortable alternative to dress shoes for work. The fact that they look cute with everything from jeans to dresses make them incredibly versatile. For a pop of color I added a pink bag. I love the combination of pink and green so it's the perfect accent to the little green sequins on the top.

Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away!

Summer is just around the corner and I cannot wait! Next week is Memorial Day, which is the unofficial beginning of summer, and then in a few weeks I'll be done with school, so it will be the de facto start of my summer vacation. I am counting down the days until sweet freedom and most definitely looking forward to "sailing away" to a nice, relaxing break! This J. Crew Regatta skirt is the perfect skirt to welcome the start of summer, even if it is a little early!

One of the things that I love most about this skirt is that it is reminiscent of the "good old days" of J. Crew. A lot of reviewers online have said this and I agree. It's a beautiful print and made of thick, nice quality material, which is probably why it sold out in less than a week from J. Crew's website. Luckily, Nordstrom still has it available, so if you are willing to pay full price for it, you too can sail into summer in this lovely skirt! I wasn't thrilled about paying full price but I thought this would be one of those skirts that would stand the test of time as a "J. Crew classic", so it was worth a little extra coin.

All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go

Sometimes it's fun to get a little dressed up for no reason at all. It's fun just to wear something a little special for the sake of donning a pretty dress, even if you have nowhere exciting to go. Since I've been busy at work, I haven't been going out much and this gorgeous colorful striped dress from New York & Co has just been sitting around on a hanger waiting to be worn. I finally decided that I didn't need an occasion for this dress because an ordinary weekday was occasion enough!

This dress could also be made more casual with a little cardigan or even a denim jacket for work. I decided to keep things simple, though, and show off the dress in all its colorful splendor by wearing it by itself, save for a few key pastel accessories like my Mansur Gavriel circle bag and mint suede shoes. Come to think of it, isn't there a royal wedding this weekend? I guess if I was invited to it, I might actually have someplace to wear this dress, even if it is a dress that only cost a mere $40 because it definitely looks more expensive than it is and worthy of a royal wedding. The only problem, in addition to not being invited, would be getting a fancy hat or fascinator but that could easily be arranged!
