Art Float

I hope everyone had a lovely Memorial Day weekend. It's amazing how the three days just fly by! This weekend I did a little bit of exploring around Riverside, California. The main purpose of my sojourn to this part of Southern California was to visit the "Art Float" project at Fairmount Park. As you can see, this project, which is sponsored by the Riverside Art Museum, features hundreds of hand painted beach ball-like spheres that have been placed in a lake for visitors to view. It does make for quite the spectacle indeed! My husband and I definitely enjoyed taking a stroll around the park while gawking at these colorful orbs!

Of course I had to wear something that was colorful and playful to match the exhibit, so it was the perfect occasion to break out my polka dot Marimekko shift dress from Uniqlo! I've been looking for an excuse to wear this dress for quite sometime now and I love how the gigantic polka dots echo the floating balls! I felt just a tad overdressed compared to most of the other visitors in the park (I guess clothes like these are no longer really park attire!) but I definitely don't mind being a little overdressed. (I didn't actually wear this ensemble especially for the park, as my husband and I went there after having lunch at the Mission Inn, another thing that can't be missed in Riverside.)

Unfortunately, this "Art Float" project will only be up until June 1st because it was only meant to last three weeks. That means if you want to see it before it disappears, run, don't walk to it! As you can see, I do have my tennis sneakers on, so I guess in that respect I was prepared to run on over to it too!
