Color Rocks!

Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation of gigantic neon painted rocks located in the middle of the desert. Actually, to say that the rocks are in the middle of the desert is a bit misleading because they are technically located about 30 miles outside of Las Vegas near the city of Jean, which has a casino hotel. Regardless of the precise location, this enormous installation will make you feel as if you are in another very colorful world, albeit surrounded by hundreds of other people clamoring to take photos of these colossal, colorful rocks.

I am not sure when I first learned of Seven Magic Mountains, but as soon as I did, the destination skyrocketed to the top of my list of things to see. My husband and I usually take an annual trip to Las Vegas, so seeing these rocks became one of the focal points of this year's excursion. As I was packing the day before our trip, I showed my husband a picture of the rocks and asked him, "does this outfit look okay with rocks?" Given the expression on his face, this was probably the moment when my husband thought that I had officially lost my mind!

While I had planned ahead with a colorful ensemble that perfectly matched the florescent hues of the rocks, I was surprised that almost everyone else at Seven Magic Mountains was wearing black! To be fair, however, some of the people there were nuns, so I guess they really didn't have much of a choice! (The nuns, by the way, were very much into taking fun photos, just like everyone else, which was nice to see, but a bit surreal!) Anyway, although I had spent a lot of time planning the perfect outfit for these rocks, the one thing I didn't plan on was hitting a lot of traffic on our trip to Vegas, so we got to Seven Magic Mountains much latter than expected. Upon our arrival, it was nearly sunset, so many of my pictures didn't turn out quite how I had hoped, but in a way it was really pretty to see Seven Magic Mountains during "Magic Hour".
