Partial to Polka Dots

I can't say no to polka dots, especially big playful ones like the ones featured on this dress from H&M! Polka dots are definitely one of my favorite prints, so it's hard for me to pass up anything with polka dots, but this dress really caught my eye! While I already have quite a few dresses with polka dots, the one thing that sets this dress apart from the others I own is the fun balloon sleeves. This dress definitely has it all, including an affordable price of only $19.99, so you can probably understand why I had to take it home with me when I spotted it at my local H&M store!

Speaking of things that make a statement, these Kate Spade taxi flats always turn heads as well! To be honest, I don't wear them all that much but when I do, they always get tons of compliments! I think they tend to look best with basic colors, such as black and red, so that that the pop of yellow really comes through! Last of all, I'm posing by one of my favorite walls in Los Angeles! It's very appropriate that this modern looking wall is located on the side of an art supply store, as it's reminiscent of the paintings of the artist, Mondrian. I would say the wall, like the dress and shoes, definitely makes a statement!

Polka Dot Jumpsuit

There was a time when I thought jumpsuits were a trend and I wouldn't be caught dead in one but I've gradually warmed to the idea of wearing them. About a year ago, I bought my first jumpsuit and I was instantly hooked! Clearly, the jumpsuit trend is still going strong and now I have quite the growing collection of them! I will have to say that some of my jumpsuits are not all that practical. What I mean is that they are a bit hard to get into and, perhaps more importantly, are also a bit hard to get off by youself, which can be problematic when going to the bathroom! This polka dot jumpsuit from Old Navy, however, is the exception. It's super comfy and practical, which is why I have three of them in different patterns!

I honestly think that every woman should have a polka dot jumpsuit in their wardrobe! Below, you will see my links to some cute polka dot jumpsuit options for spring. These polka dot jumpsuits are truly versatile and can be dressed up or down. Here, I'm wearing mine as a blank slate to showcase some fun accessories such as my Kate Spade taxi flats and rainbow clutch.

All the Shapes

I love all sorts of patterns but one of my favorite patterns is definitely polka dots! Polka dots are fun and whimsical, yet simultaneously classic and seem to go with just about everything. Due to my immense love of the polka dot print, I was instantly drawn to this polka dot midi length skirt from ChicWish. Obviously, I love its classic polka dot print but I also adore the fabric, as it's a nice, thick, felt-like material that makes the skirt perfect for the cool winter days we have been having here lately!

I thought the perfect backdrop for my polka dot skirt was this colorful shape wall! I like the interplay between the polka dots on the skirt and the more geometric shapes featured on the wall. Believe it or not, these pictures were taken about two minutes before sunset and it was really dark! We went to a play before going to dinner and the play ended a bit later than I had anticipated. I didn't think we would make it in time to this location for the photos but it worked out just perfectly! I guess some things are just meant to be!

When You Can't Say "No" to Polka Dots

It's a known fact that I can't say "no" to a great polka dot print! Since this sweater from Old Navy was only $15, it made saying "yes!" even easier! Sure, I have other polka dot sweaters. In fact, I even have one that is the exact reverse color scheme of this one (maroon sweater with pink dots) but, like I said, this one was a fantastic deal, which made it hard to put down!

As for styling this sweater, I thought these pale pink pants would really make the sweater pop. Speaking of things that pop, how cute is this crossbody bag? Unfortunately, this fun bag is from last year. I picked it up at Zara and I was instantly drawn to it's quirky reference to cartoons and pop culture. It's not a bag that I wear a lot but, when I do, it certainly makes a statement. It somewhat reminds me of the work of artist Roy Lichtenstein, one of the key figures of the Pop Art movement whose art was inspired by comic strips, just like this bag!

Polka Dots With a Twist

I have a lot of polka dot skirts but I love this midi length one from SheIn, so I had to add it to my collection! While I have more than a few polka dot themed items, I like how this particular skirt has tiny scattered dots and buttons running down the length of the skirt, so I suppose it's a little bit different than the polka dot skirts I already own. I guess you could say SheIn put their own "twist" on the classic polka dot skirt!

Speaking of putting a twist on things, I'm finally getting around to wearing this statement tee from J. Crew. This past summer, I loved all of the statement tees from J. Crew, such as this one with cocktail or drink themed statements like "Over Ice" or "With a Twist". The one I am wearing today that states "With a Twist" is now drastically reduced, so you can get it and save it for next summer or, if you have hot weather like what we are experiencing here in Los Angeles you can wear it now! I feel like I really should have worn this tee with a cocktail in my hand but I guess a fun rainbow clutch will have to do!

How to Transition to Fall When the Weater is Hot

I wore this outfit last weekend when it was very hot out but I still felt like I was dressed for the fall season. At this point in the year here in Los Angeles it's nowhere near cool enough for sweaters or even long sleeves, so you have to get more creative in transitioning your wardrobe. One of my favorite tips for making a summer wardrobe look more appropriate for fall is wearing fall colors but in lighter fabrics, which is where this polka dot skirt from SheIn comes in. The light brown color is perfect for fall but the material isn't too heavy, so it's very wearable for warmer weather. When the colder temperatures come, I can just add a sweater and I'll be all set!

As you know, I love color, so I didn't want to completely dress in neutrals. Adding a pop of color can add a little hint of summer into your wardrobe without it being too much. Plus, who doesn't want to be reminded of summer? For this outfit, I decided to add the pop of color in the form of this gorgeous statement necklace with these pretty pink iridescent flowers and a pink bag. I love to experiment with colors and I found through this outfit that I really adore pink and brown together! It just might be my go to color combo for this upcoming fall season!
