Bold Stripes

Last weekend, I was watching a local news show and the hosts were interviewing a woman wearing a striped blazer that was very similar to the one I am wearing here. It occurred to the hosts that the woman appeared familiar, but they couldn't quite place her face. All of a sudden, a split screen popped up with the woman in the blazer and an image of Beetlejuice! To be honest, I've never seen the movie, but the striped blazer worn by the title character is emblazoned in my mind and I guess it is rather iconic, although maybe not always in a good way!

Despite the Beetlejuice association, these bold stripe jackets and blazers seem to be really making a splash for spring. Bold stripes cannot only be found on blazers but also on shirts, shoes and pants. For example, H&M also made a pair of matching stripe pants to match this blazer. I was tempted to buy them, but they were sold out in my size. I actually saw quite a few people on Instagram rocking the blazer and pants together. While I love bold stripes, I'm not quite sure I can pull that look off. The jacket by itself might suggest Beetlejuice, but when one adds the striped pants, the look screams it!
