To get back to the Guns and Roses song, L.A. is also a jungle in the more metaphorical sense. Compared to my time spent in New York, L.A. seems like a city that could definitely eat you alive. After all, there's a reason why noir literature and films are situated primarily in Los Angeles. Despite the fact that there is a downtown, Los Angeles is mostly a sprawling suburb full of seemingly hundreds of neighborhoods. It really can have an alienating effect. There is a wide discrepancy between the haves and the have nots, which you can find around any block of the city. And then there are the innumerable people who come here every year with the illusive hope of fame and fortune that seem just out of reach. It really is a unique city for so many reasons.

DeleteI was just in DTLA yesterday! I'm a city girl but LA just confuses me. I definitely prefer New York!
ReplyDeleteI love this look though. The skirt is so cute and that bag is amazing! Thanks for linking up for Flashback Fashion Fridays!

I am definitely a city girl too, but I actually find L.A. to be much more confusing and overwhelming than New York, where I lived for several years. Thanks for hosting and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
DeleteThank you Dawn! I'm in the Pasadena area which is sort of a suburb of the city of Los Angeles. Hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is beautiful! I love it :)
