Knee Deep in Neon

Follow me to my last adventure off the Las Vegas Strip: The Neon Museum, or, as it's sometimes referred to, The Neon Boneyard. The museum is truly a visual feast for the eyes with layers upon layers of both iconic and obscure neon signs from Las Vegas' past. Masterfully laid out, The Neon Museum will make you feel like you are a professional photographer because it is nearly impossible to take a bad picture there. Just point your camera, click and you have a beautiful shot full of color, not to mention a photo that is steeped in Las Vegas history.

We visited The Neon Museum of Las Vegas on our last day in Nevada. It was a cold, blustery day with a cloudy foreboding sky that eventually gave way to blue skies, although we again hit bad weather on our return to California when we found ourselves in the middle of a snowstorm in a sports car equipped with summer tires! Lots of professional photo shoots have taken place at The Neon Museum (you can rent it out for photos), but let's just say that given the weather conditions, it was a little hard to take "blog photos", so I've tried to disperse them throughout my other pictures of the breathtaking signage. There are a lot of photos, so sit back and enjoy my journey through what I will refer to as a neon wonderland!

If you are in Las Vegas, I highly recommend that you stop by and see this museum. They are a non-profit organization and work to restore vintage neon signs, thus preserving an important piece of the history of Las Vegas. Tickets sell out fast for their tours, but they are well worth the price of admission ($18) and the advance planning.

    1. You should definitely go if you are ever in the area! It's so fun. I have to admit I kind of planned out the outfit for the location, but unfortunately it was about 30 degrees outside when we went which I wasn't planning on.

    1. Thanks! I wear this necklace with so many things and it was perfect because it has hints of neon colors. Definitely add the museum to your next Vegas trip if you get the chance!

  4. Love your pink bow coat and the color of your dress is beautiful and looks great with the necklace. This place looks interesting, I have never even heard of it and may have to check it out next time in Vegas.

    1. I didn't hear about the Neon Museum until maybe a year or two ago. Now I am seeing it everywhere. For example, I was just flipping channels and saw that it was a backdrop for a scene from a movie. It's so fun and well worth the trip!

    1. Definitely! It's such a great place to take some really amazing pictures. Unfortunately the tour is only an hour and even though it's a relatively small space there is so much to look at and photograph.
