My Uniform

I'm always game to try something new, but sometimes when it comes to my wardrobe, sticking to what I know best is, well, just easier. The individual pieces I am wearing today represent a lot about what has come to become almost my basic "uniform" or wardrobe staples, especially for fall. Whether I am doing a blog, or just kicking around town, these are some things I can't get enough of. Let me take you through the essentials of my uniform below...

Above you will see the newest addition to my growing collection of "statement" sweaters or, as I like to refer to them, "bedazzled" sweaters. If you've followed my blog closely, you will remember that I have a twisted love hate relationship with them, but I keep coming back for more. However, I think nothing adds a little "visual" interest to a simple crewneck sweater like some "jewels".

My next fall wardrobe staple are loafers. I don't wear loafers that much on my blog, but trust me, I have a lot. Loafers like these are great with jeans, cropped pants, and I am just now trying to wear them more with skirts. I like to have something a little unique on my loafers, in this case, these "Darby" loafers from J. Crew are sparkly and covered in sapphire colored sequins. I get a lot of people giving me weird looks directed at my feet as I walk by, but I guess that's because I choose to wear shoes in the shape of bunnies, taxi-cabs, or, in this case, sequins on a regular basis!

Full skirts, pleated or otherwise, are another staple. The length is perfect for work, but still sort of fun and youthful at the same time. Plus the bows. I can't get enough of bows. It's kind of my thing.

Last of all, a great clutch. A few years ago I only wore clutches for dressy events, but I have come to appreciate the virtues of a more casual clutch, such as this leather one from Vince Camuto. Plus, this one looks a little like a version that begins with an "H" and is in the five figure range. (I won't name names, but you know who I mean!) Clutches are more practical than you might think and this one fits all of the necessities.

Well, that concludes my musings on some of my favorite staples for fall. I could add more, but this will suffice for now. What are some of the staples in your fall "uniform"?

  2. Love this outfit, Katie!

Random loafer question - have you found sock liners that work well for your loafers? I seem to get blisters without them, and haven't yet found a pair that work well for me so I'm open to suggestions!

    1. Thank you Laura! I have never used sock liners, but now I am intrigued! These particular shoes don't give me blisters, but I do get blisters quite often, although more so with dress shoes. I'll have to start looking into them. I'll let you know if I have any success! :)
