Wild Hearts

I took a little break from blogging recently, but I'm back, feeling refreshed, and bursting with color! Last weekend, I was finally able to get out and enjoy some things around the city. This included a trip to the Arts District in Los Angeles, which is a vibrant section of the city with lots of small shops, restaurants and, of course, colorful murals! Originally, I wanted to see some of the new crochet murals by artist London Kaye in this area. Unfortunately, the mural I wanted to take photographs by was largely torn down and there was a impromptu band that had set up to play music by it! Luckily, I spied this heart mural from afar and it was the perfect match for this colorful Farm Rio leopard print cardigan that I am featuring in today's post! I actually like this backdrop a lot more than the original one I had planned, so it all worked out in the end.

I am trying to discover new brands lately and one that I really love is Farm Rio, which is where this cardigan is from. I love the wild, colorful print of this sweater and the cozy oversized fit! All of Farm Rio's clothing is quite colorful and fun, so I hope to buy some more pieces from them in the future. If I do get any more pieces from them, it will also provide me with another excuse to venture into the Arts District to stumble upon another fun and funky wall there! After all, there's always something new to discover in Los Angeles!

Rose Gold Eyelash Skirt

Originally, I wanted to feature this stunning rose gold eyelash skirt for a New Year's Eve post on my blog but, as I wrote previously, a lot of things got in the way of me photographing it after after Christmas! Now that I'm getting back to doing blog posts, I decided to feature it after the holidays because, although the skirt is perfect for New Year's Eve, it could also be a wonderful option for what to wear for Valentine's Day! Personally, I love this skirt so much that I would wear it year round for any occasion! To be honest, I actually wore it into a McDonald's for a very Carrie Bradshaw moment! (I was just a little overdressed!)

This skirt by Buru keeps selling out, which is understandable because it's gorgeous! Still, it seems to be restocked on the designer's website if one waits long enough. (I also linked to this similar and more affordable rose gold skirt.) Fortunately, I was able to snag the skirt a few weeks before the holidays! This is actually the first piece by Buru that I've purchased and I have to admit that I am really impressed by the quality and unique design. In the future, I would definitely buy some other pieces by Buru because they offer such whimsical and stylish clothing that definitely stands out, especially while getting a quick bite at McDonald's!

Chanel Inspired Cardigan

The thing that instantly attracted me to this blue and green cardigan was the Chanel inspired vibe! The gold buttons, pockets and overall silhouette are definitely a nod to a Chanel inspired aesthetic! The good news is that this sweater will not cost you an arm and a leg like Chanel! Actually, it is currently on sale! While this sweater is supposed to be a little oversized, I ordered it in a size extra small because that's what they had left in stock at the time I purchased it. It seems like this cardigan has come back in stock or is on back-order in various sizes now, so I would recommend grabbing it while you can if you love it as much as I do!

I thought this cardigan would look best styled casually with some distressed boyfriend jeans, gold loafers and a striped tee for some pattern mixing and visual interest! It's the perfect thing to wear on the weekends for going out to a casual lunch and running some errands, which is why I wore it last Sunday. The cardigan can also be dressed up for work or for going out, so it's a very versatile and classic piece! Of course, anything with a Chanel vibe has got to be versatile and classic!

Buffalo Plaid, Leopard and Leather

I wore this buffalo plaid dress a couple weeks before Christmas but I am just getting around to posting about it today here on my blog! I guess this goes along with the theme from my previous post this week about how it's okay to wear plaid after the holidays, even though, technically, I did wear this outfit as more of a holiday look in December! Like some other plaids, I definitely think buffalo plaid can worn both before and after the holiday season!

One twist I put on this dress is pairing it with a leather jacket and a leopard print clutch. I really like pairing plaid with leopard, as I think it makes for a nice pattern mix! My husband and I are constantly debating my firm belief that leopard is a neutral. Whenever I feel like an outfit needs another pattern for visual interest or when I just don't know what to pair with a look, I always reach for this Clare V. leopard clutch, so that makes it a neutral in my book! For my husband, it's another story!

Plaid Taffeta Skirt

Now that the holidays are over, many people tend to put away their plaid for the year. I also I do this with certain items from my wardrobe. Still, while some plaids are more festive and suggestive of the holidays, there are definitely some plaids that can be worn past December.  Take, for example, this plaid taffeta ruffle skirt that I picked up on sale a week before Christmas at Anthropologie. This skirt definitely can be worn now and in the upcoming months. I also think the pink color that runs through the pattern of the plaid could make it perfect for Valentine's Day!

Speaking of Valentine's Day, I don't know why, but this particular location always reminds me of the show The Bachelor.  Maybe it's because of these pretty flowers, which I believe to be camellias, that look a little bit like roses. Unfortunately, the flowers were not quite as in bloom as I would have hoped for in these photos but it was still nice to see at least a little pink, especially in the midst of winter. We got a lot of rain over the last several weeks here so I'm hoping that this spring will bring more pretty flowers like these!
