Purple on Rodeo Drive

Last weekend, we went to Rodeo Drive to pick up something that was supposed to be a Christmas gift for me this year but has now turned into a Valentine's Day gift because it took months to finally arrive! Well, the gift was well worth the wait (and will be featured soon on my blog!) and, in addition, I just really love any opportunity to stroll down Rodeo Drive and window shop! While Rodeo Drive is the home of haute couture and upscale boutiques, I decided to go for a very reasonably priced frock from Target for the occasion. This purple dress from Target caught by eye during my last Target run a few weeks ago, mainly because purple is my favorite color. I also really like the easy babydoll style of the dress that's very flowy, comfy and easy to wear.

As you can see, there's a lot of purple going on in this look! I paired a purple moto jacket with the dress in addition to a purple Chanel bag. I could have also gone with purple shoes but I figured that would be too much purple! Technically, I don't think there's such a thing as too much purple but I think I did the right thing in drawing a line at three purple items in an outfit. Now, if I could only have the same restraint while shopping (especially for handbags), I would be all set!

Puppy Love!

While I love all dogs, English Springer Spaniels hold a special place in my heart because my dog, William, is an English Springer Spaniel. While it's very easy to find popular breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labs and Corgis on things, it's uncommon to see anything with a Springer. So, I was very excited to find this red dog sweater with a dog that bears a striking resemblance to an English Springer Spaniel, such as William, on it! Technically, the company says the dog on the sweater is a Collie and it does somewhat resemble a Border Collie but they have more upright ears and so I think it looks most like an English Springer Spaniel.

The dog on this sweater has leopard glasses on, which I don't think William would enjoy wearing, but they do make the dog look awfully cute and studious! To match the leopard print on the glasses and also the sweater's elbow patches, I paired the sweater with a leopard print skirt. Like I said, I really like the fact that the dog has glasses on because, lately, I often joke that William is my teaching assistant because he often sits by or underneath my desk while I am teaching during distance learning and "assists" me with class. Unfortunately, William is probably the worst teaching assistant of all time because he just snores, barks, scratches himself, or wants attention while I'm teaching but at least he's really cute!

Love is in the Air!

Love is in the air and it's also on the wall! Of course I am referring to this "Love" wall located in Culver City. It's hard to believe that there's a week left in the month of January, which means February and Valentine's Day are both right around the corner! This "Love" wall is the perfect place for taking photos of anything Valentine's Day themed, which is why I thought it would be the ideal backdrop for my new black and white heart dress, which is on major sale right now at Ann Taylor. They also have this same print in a variety of styles, such as skirts, blouses, and pants, so you can bedeck yourself in head to toe hearts for weeks to come in honor of Valentine's Day!

A few years ago, I took pictures at this same wall a week or so before Valentine's Day and it was packed with people; there was literally a line of people waiting to take photos! Well, I learned a valuable lesson that day: don't wait until the last minute to get you Valentine's Day themed content done! (To be honest, I think this really goes for any holiday!) Luckily, when we went to this location last weekend, we had it all to ourselves (so romantic!), which was nice because I hate feeling rushed or like there's a bunch of people watching while I take pictures. Also, my husband did a wonderful job of directing me and getting great shots for this post. While I know that many people use professional photographers for their photos, I love having my husband as my photographer and wouldn't want it any other way!

Glitter Everywhere!

Sometimes there's a funny story to go along with the photos you see here on my blog and when that's the case, I love to share them with you! Last weekend, I wore this glitter tulle skirt out for the first time. You might notice that I paired it with shoes with glitter heels, some glittery sunglasses, and a pair of gold glitter earrings. Basically, I was in head to to toe glitter! Well, when I got up out of the car, the glitter wasn't just on me but it was also all over the seat and footwell of the car! (It looked like a glitter bomb went off!) Needless to say, my husband was a little less than thrilled about having to vacuum all of this glitter out of the car but it did add a little something extra to the car's interior, in my opinion!

I wore this skirt to go furniture shopping in Pasadena and the sales associate encouraged me to sit on a sofa to try out how comfortable it was. Well, luckily for her, I refrained from doing so because I didn't want to leave an embarrassing glittery mess all of the sofa! I did notice that there were little tiny specs of glitter on the showroom floor like a trail of glitter from where I had walked! Luckily, everyone, including the sales associate, loved the skirt, which is more than I can say for my husband after making a glittery mess in the car!

Heart to Heart

It usually takes me a little while to let go of Christmas and move on to the next holiday but I think I'm finally getting a little excited about Valentine's Day, which is now just about a month away. In preparation for Valentine's Day, I am getting out all of my heart themed items and also adding some new heart items to my to my collection. My newest addition is this heart blouse from Talbots. This heart top came out a few months ago but is now pretty deeply discounted, which is why I snagged it off of the shelf in my size when I went to the mall a couple weeks ago. I guess you could say that it stole my heart!

Because this shirt features hearts in mainly primary colors, I decided to play on these colors with my styling, which includes this yellow pleated skirt. While this skirt is one that I bought several years ago at Target, you can find an almost identical one at both J. Crew Factory and Boden. I actually have this skirt in a few different colors and I love them all because they are so easy to style and they go with everything! I also added some heart accessories to the outfit, such as my heart earrings and sunglasses. After all, one heart is never enough! I purchased these heart sunglasses for Valentine's Day last year and I thought I would wear them in only in February but, as it turns out, heart sunglasses can be worn all year long! Now that I think about it, there's no reason that hearts need to be relegated to just Valentine's Day!

Goat Print Pants!

This week, the theme for my blog seems to be, without a doubt, prints featuring animals! At the beginning of the week, I featured a skirt with a giraffe print and, today, I'm featuring these silk pants in a colorful goat print. To be honest, I didn't plan it that way but because I love animals, it's probably not surprising that I have a lot of clothing featuring various animals. (My closet is a Noah's Ark of animal prints of all kinds!) If this goat print looks familiar, it's because I now own three items in this particular print. I purchased the dress and the blouse a couple months ago and I just recently added these pants once they were deeply discounted by J. Crew. One of the nice things about the print is that the goats are fairly subtle in the print, so if you're not a fan of goats (I don't know why you wouldn't be), the rich colors and floral pattern still makes the print appealing.

As I stated before, the colors in this print are really vibrant and eye catching, which makes these pants a lot of fun to style! I went with this neon green/yellow sweater and a fuchsia bag to bring out the colors found in the print. So, as I said in one of my previous posts about this print, these pants are truly G.O.A.T. or the greatest of all time because of the fun print and styling options! In fact, I look forward to wearing this whimsical, colorful pattern in all three items for years to come!

Giraffe Skirt

A couple weeks ago, we went to The Living Desert Zoo Gardens near Palm Springs where we saw some gorgeous giraffes along with many other amazing animals! Today, I am capturing the spirit of the lovely animals that we saw at the park with this giraffe print skirt! I actually have this same giraffe print in a dress, which I purchased before the skirt, but I never got around to posting the dress. The good news is that the skirt is now on sale and it is a definite must have for anyone who loves animals or gorgeous prints, such as myself!

While this skirt would look lovely with muted colors, I decided that it would really pop with more vibrant colors. Because the print features both orange and yellow, I went for an orange sweater and a yellow bag. Also, because of the safari print, I decided to throw in some additional animal print into the mix, which is where these leopard pumps come into play.  While leopards and giraffes may not mix well in the wild, they do make for an amazing pattern combination in fashion!
