Party Plaid

I'll be the first to admit that what I am wearing today represents every preppy holiday cliché all rolled into one ensemble. Christmas time definitely tends to put me more in touch with the preppy side of my wardrobe, which is why you should prepare yourself to see a lot of plaid and a lot of bows coming up over the next week on my blog! (I'm trying to cram it all into one week!) So, if you have an aversion to those things, consider yourself warned.

As I mentioned before, I went a little overboard with buying some new plaid items for the holiday season at J. Crew this year. In my opinion, they were really at the top of their game this year in the plaid department. My favorite things that they rolled out include these adorable tartan plaid shoes and this taffeta plaid skirt. Yes, I know they match and yes it might be a bit much to wear them together, but because it's Christmas, I don't care and I'm definitely okay with doubling down on plaid!

This look would be perfect for a holiday party, or in my case, just strolling around the streets of Pasadena. I actually went to J. Crew in this outfit and one of the employees told me I looked like I just stepped out of one of their catalog.  (He actually thought my blouse was J. Crew too, but my secret is that it was about $10 at Kohl's a few years ago!) When I told my husband about the sales associate's comments he asked, "And you're proud of that?" Well, I won't let a Grinchy husband (at least when it comes to J. Crew!) ruin my plaid obsession!
