Cozy in the Snow

It's time for the obligatory Christmas tree farm photos! There's nothing that I love more than Christmas tree farms. One of my fondest memories as a child growing up in upstate New York was going to a cut your own tree farm every year with my family and dog in tow, the latter wearing festive reindeer ears. Truth be told, now that I live in Southern California, my husband and I go to Home Depot for our Christmas Tree, which doesn't quite have the childhood nostalgia of tromping through a snowy field of trees, but it will have to do. Despite the lack of snow, cold weather and native conifers, Southern California does have some quaint Christmas Tree farms, like this one located in an orange grove, because what could be more Californian than selling Christmas Trees in an orange grove?

When we visited this Christmas tree farm, we had already purchased our tree and I had fully decorated it, so I felt a little guilty just taking pictures and taking advantage of the scenery, however the people running the place couldn't be nicer. I think they get a lot of looky-loos and people who are just there to take some photos, just like my husband and me. I was surprised that they didn't seem to care, although based on the fact that their prices were double or triple what the trees at Home Depot cost, it's understandable). They even recommended places to take great photos! They also had two adorable dogs, which my husband and I spent a considerable amount time petting and admiring.

One of the other great things about this location is that they had, of all things, snow! It's been a while since I've seen snow, so it was delightful to stand on it and pretend I was back in upstate New York on a Christmas Tree farm! My understanding is that they brought it in to attract customers and their children. Next year I want to import some of this snow to our back yard, although I'm not sure how our dog, William, would feel about it!
