While sweater weather hasn't quite arrived here in Southern California, I am gearing up and preparing for a cold spell by purchasing some sweaters for the upcoming "cold" season. One of the things I love wearing when the weather does finally get cooler is a good sweater dress and I think I might have found one of my favorites, at least of the season! This purple and pink sweater dress has all of the colors I love!
Purple is my favorite color and pink is a close second, so the color palette of this sweater dress is perfect for me! I also love the details of the sleeves as well for some added visual interest. This dress will definitely be in heavy rotation once the fall/winter weather comes to Southern California!
Last weekend, we went to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Not only did we go to see the museum but we also went to a hear a lecture about food served in the court of King Henry the VIII, which was accompanied by some actual food and drink from the time period. While this black and white sweater dress is definitely not something from the Renaissance, I think there's something quite artistic about it that makes it perfect for a stroll around a museum such as the Getty!
The Getty Museum is located on a hilltop in the Santa Monica Mountains. Guests have to take a tram up to the museum and on the way up there's some beautiful views of the city that are almost as fun to enjoy as the art in the museum. Once you're at the top of the hill and at the museum, there are even more beautiful views to take in from various vantage points. As you can see from the photos, the Getty Museum was built from travertine stone that starts to emit warm honey tones in the late afternoon, which is when we went. Overall, among the view, the art, the lecture, and the food, it was quite a fun day at the museum. I also think that my black and white dress added an additional artistic element to the experience!
I can't remember the last time we had so many grey rainy days here in Los Angeles! It's been non-stop grey skies and storm clouds and it is supposed to continue for at least a few more days! To be honest, I'm someone who actually likes the rain, especially when I can be cozy and curled up in bed listening to and watching the rain at home. Last weekend, we had a couple rainy days, which would have been perfect weather for staying home, but my husband and I had tickets to a play performed at a certain famous historic mansion in Beverly Hills. I'm not going to name it because you're not supposed to take pictures anywhere on the premises without a permit, but the color of my bow-neck sweater dress is in the name of the mansion (hint, hint)!
This sweater dress is now a fantastic value and I am surprised that so many sizes are still in stock! I love the bow detail and on this particular occasion I decided to add another layer of detail by wearing my embellished collar "Tilda" shirt underneath the dress. Even though my outfit here wasn't period appropriate for the occasion (the mansion was built in the 1920s and the play takes place in the same decade), it did get a compliment from the actor playing the role of the butler in the play we went to see. Now if only I could afford to have my own mansion and my own butler to compliment me on all of my outfits, I'd be very happy indeed, although I guess that's what husbands are for!

Everyone knows that I am crazy about stripes, especially rainbow stripes, so it only makes sense that I would have to get this sweater dress in what Gap has dubbed as their "crazy stripe" pattern. Gap also has a sweater and even some sneakers in "crazy stripe" so that you can bedeck yourself from head to toe in these crazy, fun rainbow stripes! Also, since Gap's Black Friday sale starts early this week with an extra 50% off your purchase, you can load up on a lot of color for a very small price!
In case you were wondering, I also purchased the crazy stripe sneakers because they were just too cute to pass up and they were also a great deal! Originally, I was thinking of going all out and wearing the
sneakers with the dress but I thought I would go with my velvet booties
instead for a slightly more glamorous look. The bag also helps add a little bit of glamor. If I decide to go out shopping on Black Friday, I could wear this dress styled more casually to deal with the crowds but, on second thought, it might be nice to just stay in and enjoy some leftover turkey instead!
