Scarf Skirt

Over the last few months, I have been finding myself more and more drawn to vintage prints and styles, including this lovely silk scarf skirt from J. Crew. The print is reminiscent of something that Emilio Pucci might have designed in the in the 60s or 70s. I paired this vintage-style skirt with a short sleeve green sweater to show that, slowly but surely, I am transitioning into fall! I have heard some women say that they don't understand the purpose of a short sleeve sweater (I suppose they argue that one should just go all the way with long sleeves if it's cold enough for a sweater?), however, I find these short sleeve sweaters to be a practical wardrobe staple for the type of weather we have in Southern California, which is often cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon.

I thought this particular outfit would look great against the backdrop of this mountain mural, which can be found in a parking lot outside of a Macy's! It is somewhat in keeping with my aesthetic of being dressed to match, due to the fact that the colors from the skirt really pick up on the colors used in the mural. I have used this mural a few times in the past but, as I said, it is located in a parking lot, so, sometimes, cars are parked in front of it, rendering it unusable as a backdrop for photos. Perhaps, one of the upsides of the shutdown here is that there are fewer shoppers out (most of the stores are still closed here), thus, having access to murals like this is much easier! I guess I am always trying to look for a silver lining to any situation!
