A few weeks ago marked the first day of what I would deem as "shorts weather" here in Los Angeles. Yes, it's pretty nice weather all year round here and you could conceivably wear shorts throughout the year but I usually wait until the first really warm day in spring to "officially" break my shorts out. What better way to commence "shorts weather" than with these tie-waist gingham ones from Target! I could wear these all season long, as they are not only cute but also the elastic waistband makes them super comfy as well! They truly have it all: comfort, bows, checks and a paper bag waist. I'm officially in shorts heaven!
These shorts will literally go with anything but I decided to do a little pattern mixing with this outfit. My polka dot top from LOFT paired perfectly with the shorts, except for one small thing: when I bought the shirt online, I thought that it was black but when it arrived in the mail it looked more like a very, very dark blue. The gingham shorts are, however, actually black, so I wasn't sure if I should mix dark blue and black. Ultimately, I decided they looked almost the same shade of...let's just call it "blue/black"!
Last of all, these photos were taken on a recent trip to wine country in Temecula, which I wrote about in a previous post last week. The thing about Temecula is that not only is it warm but it's also windy! We went on a walking tour of one of the vineyards and I learned that the wind helps to infuse the grapes with more intense flavor. I am not really sure how or why this is the case but, then again, I am not exactly an oenologist, so I'll just leave that to the experts. What I do know is that wind makes it impossible to take good photos! By the time these photographs were taken, however, I had done a few tastings at different wineries and this was probably a good thing because by then I didn't care about the wind or anything else for that matter!

I love your blog design Katie, it looks great! And this is such a fun print mix--I totally thought they were both black too so I think it works. As usual I love your fun style! :)
