Stars and Stripes

I bought this star skirt from J. Crew a couple weeks before Christmas at a price that I thought was pretty great. Well, it's now even cheaper! Maybe I should be kicking myself for not waiting, but I'm not psychic! J. Crew's sale right now is pretty fantastic with prices that are slashed up to 75% off and in a surprisingly wide selection of sizes. (At least this was true at around 10pm Pacific time last night!) For example, this star skirt is currently selling for about $20 and they have all sizes except 000, but who is actually a size 000?

One thing that I love about this skirt is obviously all of the colors it features! In fact, the official name that J. Crew gave the skirt is "tiered skirt in kaleidoscope star print". I actually would have imagined it to be more popular given the cute print and the ruffles, but I think the fact that it was released for J.Crew's fall/winter line made it a hard sell for many customers, especially those living on the east coast. Clearly, the skirt has more of a "spring feel" to it, although this is perfect for me since it's been pretty hot here!

To give the skirt a little bit more of a "winter feel", I contemplated wearing the skirt with navy tights, but it was about 80 degrees on the day I wore it. Instead, I opted for a very light striped tissue turtleneck (also on super sale!) and just for the photos, this Michael Kors leather jacket that I bought on clearance about four years ago and have literally never worn. When I was trying on this look in front of the mirror, the jacket caught my eye and I realized that it begged to be worn with the outfit! It was another happy accident, although, sadly, the weather didn't allow me to wear the jacket for very long!
