Brushstrokes of Fall

It's that awkward time of the year again here in Los Angeles where it's technically almost fall, but it still feels like summer in terms of temperature. This time of the year makes getting dressed perplexing! That, coupled with the fact that school is in full swing, which results in planning my wardrobe taking a backseat to a lot of other things, makes getting dressed in the morning not quite as fun as it was a couple months before. So that's why it's great when companies like J. Crew come out with patterns like this brushstroke print that makes getting dressed a cinch and quite fun. The print of this lightweight silk material is perfect for fall because of the autumnal color scheme, yet it's still bright and fun like summer. Plus, I feel like the pattern goes with everything, so it makes wardrobe planning as easy as 1, 2, 3! I just recently purchased the skirt version of this print, so that will be coming soon on the blog!

In addition to my top being new, so are my pants. Every year I usually go through my pants and get rid of the ones that don't fit or are worn out and replace them with a couple of new styles. I really wanted some great slim fitting pants in different colors, so these "pixie" pants from Old Navy were perfect. As a bonus, they were cheap! The only problem with the pants is that I literally take about 4 different sizes depending on the style at Old Navy, so trying them on in-store is a must! I actually tried them on in-store, found the correct fit, and then bought them online when they went on sale. I guess I am still putting a lot of time and effort into my wardrobe!

  3. The top is gorgeous! It looks fab with the red trousers. I find I have the same problem with sizing at Gap. I have to take 3 different sizes into the changing room.

  4. Love how that brushstroke print looks like a rainbow floral. I bet the skirt will be amazing and I want it. I own the red Pixies too. Like you I have to try many different sizes on. They are great pants but the sizing is off.

Hope all is well in your colorful world, Katie. Always love stopping here.
