Sequins and Shadows

A few posts back, I described the horror of my husband upon finding five packages from J. Crew strewn about our front porch. In the last couple of posts I've been wearing the contents of these infamous packages, such as today's striped sweater and sequined skirt. I tried to console my husband about the influx of packages by reassuring him that the contents of each was under $30 (which was mostly true) but this did little to assuage his anxiety. Purchased at 50 percent off the sale price, the skirt and sweater I'm sporting were both excellent deals. Do I need another sequin skirt or striped sweater? Probably not, but who cares? (Well, I mean besides my husband!)

Just a quick note regarding the background of today's photos: I thought that this location, which my husband and I accidentally discovered after brunch one Sunday morning, was known only to us. I cataloged this place in my brain as "a good place to take photos in the future" with the intent to return at some point. It's actually some sort of barn down a back alley in the old town area of a small suburb here in Los Angeles, so it's not a place that most people would go, let alone seek out for pictures. When we arrived at the location for a second time, however, there was a mother, her young daughter, and a professional photographer taking photos here! Seriously! So I ended up competing with a 7 year old (blogger in training?) to take pictures against this old barn!

  8. I am cracking up--competing with the future blogger! LOL! There is a park here where I like to take photos...but so does every professional and amateur photographer. It gets pretty crowded. I feel your pain, Katie! It's a great backdrop you have there...and a gorgeous outfit. I am digging that skirt something fierce!
