So the first thing that this skirt makes me think of is the credits to the TV show Saved by the Bell. It was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the print for the first time. I never really liked Saved by the Bell, although occasionally I watch
the reruns now because I am pretty sure the show is funnier now that I'm an
adult as opposed to a child, but I digress. Getting back to the skirt, there is just something
about this print that screams late 80s/early 90s and mimics the
graphics of the show's credits, in my opinion.
The second thing this skirt reminds me of is a
conversation I witnessed between a mother and daughter the last time I
was at the J. Crew Factory. The mother
of a teenage daughter was trying to talk her daughter out of buying this exact
skirt because it was too long and didn't show off her figure. I
remember thinking it was kind of a strange thing for a mother to be
pushing on her daughter and then I remember thinking: does this make
me
old and frumpy since I love these full, midi skirts? Once the question
crossed my mind I dismissed it as absurd. Midi skirts are definitely my
favorite length of skirt and I think a style that transcends age. Plus, this skirt has a youthful, fun print mixed with a modest length and style; it's really the best of both worlds, but that's just my two cents and random musings on the topic!

Fabulous mix of prints and colors. And the metallic sandal is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI totally love midi skirts too, it's definitely my favorite length in a skirt. And I LOVE random musings because I have the most random thoughts ALL the time. My husband always waits for me to explain how I worked things out in my mind because I'm constantly spouting random things. I'm glad I'm not the only person who does this! You look gorgeous, another great combo I'll be trying to recreate ;) Happy Wednesday! XO -Kim

First, I am so in love with your flats! They are the perfect combination of sophisticated and comfortable. Second, I love these mix of prints. I would have never thought of it, but it works so well!
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern mixing here! And that yellow bag is so fun! I love full midi skirts too. They're flattering on everyone! They can make a very straight bodied girl look like she has curves and they can help to hide larger hips/legs. Plus they're just perfectly feminine!

ReplyDeleteFunny conversation to over hear - I think this skirt is a great blend of youthfulness and lady like at the same time. I have the same shirt and finally wore it the other day, it's so comfy and perfect for summer.
