A Few of My Favorite Things

Last night I watched the highly anticipated and buzzed about live TV production of The Sound of Music. I wasn't terribly impressed with the whole thing and to be honest, I fell asleep about 2 hours into it. Maybe it was the hearty French onion soup I ate while watching it (so much bread and cheese!), maybe it was the two glasses of wine I had or the roaring fire that put me to sleep or maybe it's just that I am not really into musicals. Despite my supposed apathy for the whole ordeal, I woke up this morning with all of the songs from The Sound of Music stuck in my head. I will have to say the songs are pretty catchy. Although I like Gwen Stefani's "Wind it Up" which samples "The Lonely Goatherd" better than all of them combined.

This outfit definitely features some of my favorite things. First, it's head to toe J. Crew. Second, it features houndstooth. Last of all, I have on my favorite "critter" style sweater. Although instead of a cute critter, it's this crazy French lady who I think would feel right at home in the Austrian Alps due to her super fuzzy sweater and matching hat.

Oh and one more of my favorite things is the weekend! Happy weekend everyone! Only 10 more working days until winter break. Now that's something to yodel about!

Sweater: Le Paresian Sweater (similar came out at the J. Crew Factory this year)
Shirt: J. Crew Chambray "Keeper" (here)

  1. I didn't watch Sound of Music live but caught clips of it online and have to agree with you that I wasn't terribly impressed. It was like a musical theatre version of the film and I don't think it translated well. Plus for me - adore Carrie Underwood and think she's a fantastic singer - but didn't think she was right for the part. Though who could beat Julie Andrews!

    1. I totally agree. Julie Andrews is forever engrained in the minds and hearts of most people when it comes to The Sound of Music. I give Underwood credit for attempting the project though.
