The Whales of August

This weekend my husband and I thought we would take a small "staycation" to his family's beach house. With the end of summer drawing to an end we hoped it would be a relaxing way to enjoy our fleeting moments of freedom from work. Indeed it was nice to have a little change of scenery, get in some reading on the patio and watch the sun go down on the water with a glass of wine. William enjoyed the change of scenery as well, although he is happy pretty much anywhere we are.

The beach provided the perfect local to don my linen Tippi whale sweater from J. Crew. It's relatively light weight and just right for the cooler marine weather of Southern California. This sweater also demonstrates that  J. Crew is not infallible as they sent me an xxs in this sweater, when I ordered an xs. Luckily for me, J. Crew knew better than I did, because I actually ended up preferring the smaller size. Maybe they are infallible afterall?

As I said, William really enjoyed all of the new sights, sounds and smell of the beach. He was particularly a fan of the ducks who seemed to pass by every hour. He has a squeaky toy duck which is amongst his favorite dog toys, so this gave him a chance to see the real McCoy. Another favorite activity of William was patrolling the bay for boats. When one passed by he wasn't shy about letting it know that it was venturing on his territory with a loud woof!!
