Pink Stripes and Pretty Bows

I could easily say that the floral pattern from this J. Crew pencil skirt (which goes back a few years now) is one of my favorite floral prints, but it is so hard to choose just one favorite. Normally I pair this skirt with a solid color shirt, but after seeing a similar outfit worn recently by M from Apples and Pencil Skirts, I decided it was time to try stripes and change it up a bit. The J. Crew perfect shirt in pink stripes was the perfect match with the floral pattern, so M if you are reading this, thanks for the wonderful idea! One of the great things about blogs is the wealth of ideas they provide on how to wear things.  In one way blogs can encourage you to buy things you didn't even know you wanted, but they can also inspire you to reinvent what you already have.

Needing a belt for this combination, I dove into what I refer to as my "box-o-belts" (which features Hello Kitty on the lid and is clearly meant for a kid and not a 30 something such as myself) and pulled out this pink bow belt. This belt goes back a few years too, like the skirt, and is from Urban Outfitters.  Seeing that they were having a super sale I wandered in and happened upon this belt which ended up being about $5.

I am happy that for the most part, this outfit made use of the art of finding new ways to wear the stuff which is sitting in my closet.

  1. Aww, what a pretty and cheery combination! I agree that it's nice to get outfit ideas from other bloggers using what we already have available. I think it turned out beautifully! Thanks for the shout-out.
