Patterns Unlimited

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, this outfit represents that old adage. The purchase of my featured skirt and its styling was inspired by the blog, "Respect the Shoes", which is a great blog to follow and perhaps one that you're already familiar with. I always like to give credit where credit is due. Working  in academia, I am very sensitive to issues involving plagiarism be it an essay or an outfit.

When I saw this particular skirt on "Respect the Shoes" I knew I had to track it down, as I loved the floral print (not that I don't already have a plethora of floral growing in my closet) and the styling possibilities afforded by the colors. I was initially surprised that this skirt was from The Limited, as I haven't shopped there for a very long while. Then I noticed many bloggers featuring skirts and dresses from The Limited and I had to check out what they had to offer. The Limited has many J. Crew and even Kate Spade inspired pieces for this spring. The one thing I don't like about the store (and this is sadly true for many retailers) is that they are always "yo yoing" back and forth with sales. There seems to be a different sale and different pricing on a daily basis.

Anyhow, I paired this skirt with a navy blue shirt from Target (it is apparently named the "lawn shirt" by Target) which appears to me to have an almost Moroccan-esque type of motif printed on it. Although I like this pattern combination, I would also love to wear this skirt with stripes, dots or checks as the patterns to pair it with are truly unlimited!

  2. I love this skirt when I first saw it on Lisa but decided to go with the striped skirt since it'd be more versatile. I love the mixing of prints here! :)
