Driving Through a Winter Wonderland

As a native of New York, I miss the snow immensely during the holidays. It just doesn't feel like Christmas unless there is a blanket of white on the ground. The nice thing about Los Angles is that the snow is accessible and can be enjoyed if you are willing to take a short drive. Well, that's exactly what my husband and I did yesterday. The drive we took was part of a trip organized by the West Coast Challenger Club and over 30 Dodge Challengers of assorted rainbow colors were in attendance. My husband is a car fanatic (in case you didn't know) and his big Hemi Orange Dodge R/T Classic Challenger is the official queen of our garage. I was surprised that he took it (her?) out in the snow, as this car isn't allowed to go a lot of places!

The trip was quite scenic and beautiful. We drove through the mountains of San Jacinto through the town of Idyllwild and witnessed the fresh snow which coated the pines and cedar trees. It was amazing that parts of the road were even coated in black ice, which is something I haven't had to worry about in years.  Due to the conditions, it was a slower-paced trip than he would have liked, but I enjoyed the pace because it let me take in the lovely natural scenery. It was sort of like riding around in a big orange sleigh! The trip ended up in Palm Springs, which marked a notable change in climate and temperature. All in all it was amazing to see the vast difference in topography. Moving from the mountains to the dessert all within a single hour. This is truly something that can only be done in California, which makes me feel lucky to live here.

Given the tempratures which dipped into the 30s, yesterday's trip provided the perfect opprtunity to wear one of my many wool coats which are all collecting dust in my closet. I chose to wear the J. Crew Majesty pea coat in purple. There were no Plum Crazy Purple Challengers in attendance, so my coat stood in as substitute.  To match my husband's car I wore my Prada Saffiano tote in Papaya since the oranges match up pretty well as you will see in the pictures below.
