Purple Powersuit!

I told my husband if I were to run for mayor of Los Angeles or some other political office, I would probably dress in colorful powersuits like this one from J. Crew! I don't think that will be happening anytime soon, but I sure do love these bright colored suits lately! Purple is my favorite color, so I fell in love with these purple dress pants and matching double breasted blazer. You might remember the pants from a post I did last month. I purchased the pants first and then just recently added the blazer once it went on sale at J. Crew. I'm not sure how often I would pair the two together, but I do really love the head to toe purple look for a big dose of color!

Speaking of a big dose of color, how amazing is this art installation? I saw this colorful installation in Pasadena a couple weeks ago, but when were there it was raining, so it was fun to see all of these colorful ribbons blowing in the wind and sunlight last weekend! I think everyone was really enjoying walking, running or dancing through the installation when we were there. I know I certainly did! I think if I was the mayor of a city, one of my fist priorities would be to get more art installations like this one to come to my city!

Spring Break Style

With all the rain here, I am starting to think I live in Seattle and not Los Angeles! Luckily we had a couple of nice days of weather a couple of weeks ago and we were able to take a short getaway to Palm Springs where the weather was warm and sunny, which was a welcome change from the cold weather and rain we have had for more than a month now! To celebrate a little taste of spring and the sun I wore a bright and colorful outfit that included this bright green skirt! I just picked this skirt up from H&M and it is the perfect silhouette and color to put some life in my spring wardrobe!

I accessorized my skirt with some pink accessories, including this pink ruffle top and also these pink and orange shoes, which made an appearance in my last post! We went to this colorful hotel, called the Suguro because it was obviously the perfect match for my look. We went on a Monday, so I thought the place would be empty, especially since it was still just a little earlier for spring breakers, however the place was packed and I soon found out that Alt Summit was being held at the hotel. Well, the hotel was buzzing with influencers and others in social media. I got a lot of compliments on my outfit and I think people thought I was there for the summit but I was really just passing by for photos! Oh well, it was fun to pretend I was a part of the festivities for a moment!

Pink and Orange

I think pink and orange just might be my new favorite color combo for spring! If this pink and orange striped shirt looks familiar, it might be because you saw it on me on Instagram this week or, perhaps, you saw it last week on my blog when I wore the blue and green version of the same shirt! Well, as you can see, I am clearly obsessed with not only this color combo but also this striped shirt!

Just as I wrote above about the blue and green color combo of this shirt, I just love how versatile this pink and orange shirt is! It seems to go so well with everything in my closet...maybe that's because I have a lot of color in my closet? Here I am wearing the shirt with a light pink blazer, which I purchased last year from Zara, and some jeans. If you look at my shoes, you will notice that they look almost identical to the stripes in my top and, while both are from J. Crew, the shoes are actually from a few seasons ago. The shoes and the shirt definitely look like they are from the same collection, but maybe the designers at J. Crew are just as obsessed with pink and orange as me?

Feeling Groovy

Sometimes it's fun to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to fashion, which is exactly what I did with these very groovy floral bell-bottom pants! I got these pants at Target, primarily because I love the colorful floral pattern, but I wasn't quite sure about the bell-bottom silhouette, as it's been some time (maybe the 90s?) since I have worn that style of pant. Well, I'm glad that I did, because these pants are so much fun! To play with the fun colors in the pants, and also because it was a bit chilly, I paired these pants with a bright pink moto jacket and orange tee. I have moto jackets in a few different colors, but I think pink just might be my favorite! Below, you will find a selection of moto jackets that are perfect for spring!

Personally, I love this alley for photos! In my opinion, it's very fashion forward, although it does get a bit windy and you have to watch out for people walking by and getting in your photos! There's also people frequently taking out trash and taking their lunch breaks from nearby businesses and restaurants to contend with, but it's usually the perfect or, shall I say, a "groovy" place for photos! It was definitely the perfect place to strike a pose for these retro pants!

Dopamine Dressing

With spring right around the corner, I'm really loving all of the vibrant colors that are coming out lately to kick off the new season! J. Crew has some really pretty colors for spring, so I couldn't help but to buy a few things from their spring collection including this green and blue striped button down shirt and these "Kate" pants in this stunning violet color. The thing I love about these pieces, especially the top, is that they go with so many things in my wardrobe and the colors look amazing with so many other bright colors! It's really fun to play around with different color combos, and I can't wait to restyle these pieces in new and unique ways all spring long!

As you can see, one of the color combos that I'm playing around with is purple and this neon green color. This blazer was purchased last year at Zara when they were really big on the whole dopamine dressing trend. I'm still loving that trend, so I decided to pair the neon green blazer with purple for a very bright, mood-boosting look! I have a board on my Pinterest page where I keep track of various outfits in color combos that I want to replicate and I used one of those pins as the inspiration for this look. I'll have to search for it again for more inspiration on how to style these fun and colorful pieces in the future!
