Last weekend, we were on the Miracle Mile in Los Angeles to visit the Petersen Automotive Museum. Because the LACMA museum is right down the street, I thought I would take a stroll to see the Urban Light installation, which is comprised of restored street lamps from the 20s and 30s. Some might consider this installation a bit controversial because it has been argued that the idea for carefully arranging vintage street lamps was taken from another artist by the name of Sheila Klein and her work Vermonica. Additionally, the LACMA is also in the midst of a very controversial redesign of their museum that has people who love art and architecture up in arms. While I have my own opinions on these topics, because this is a fashion blog, I'm going to try to fly above the controversy by focusing on my new leather butterfly jacket instead! You all know that I love a good moto jacket and this one's unique design with the painted butterfly print made my heart flutter with delight.
While I do love to visit and take pictures at the Urban Light exhibit, I also find it to be one of the most annoying places for photos because everyone else loves to take photos here as well! I suppose that if one was to arrive very early before the museum opens, one would have an easier time getting nice, clean shots. Unfortunately, this place is a magnet for children playing, people with selfie sticks, and other "influencers." So, I guess that's just another reason to criticize Urban Light! Maybe next time I should checkout Vermonica instead. It will be more authentic, less controversial and less crowded!
