You Can Stand Under My Umbrellas!

I'm so excited that I'm finally getting around to sharing these umbrella pictures with you because, to be honest, this umbrella lined street alley is one of my favorite discoveries of last summer! Initially you might think that I'm in Portugal, strolling down their famous umbrella street, which is where this whole concept for an umbrella installation started, or some other far away place, but actually this little back alley of hanging umbrellas is in Redlands, California and it isn't too far away from Los Angeles! Of all of the colorful places I've been (which is a lot!), this just might be my favorite!

I decided to be a little "extra" and wear this amazing sequin skirt that I picked up on sale this summer at Anthropologie to go strolling down this alley of umbrellas. I normally don't wear sequin skirts in the summer but with the addition of a hot pink statement tee and these suede bow pumps, it gave the outfit a more summery vibe! To be honest, as I usually do, I matched my outfit to the location. It was a bit weird going to a local, casual bar and restaurant afterward with a sequin skirt on in the middle of the day but I did receive quite a few compliments... not to mention stares!

In addition to seeing these amazing umbrellas, there are quite a few other things to do in Redlands, all of which I highly recommend. Not only does the city have some great restaurants in the downtown area but it also has some beautiful historic buildings. We also toured The Kimberly Crest House on our trip there this summer, which I highly recommend, albeit with one caveat: don't go during a heatwave in summer! It was over 100 degrees when we took our sojourn to Redlands and the late 19th century house doesn't have any air conditioning! So, as a concluding remark to our wonderful experience, you might want to save your trip to see the umbrellas and the house for the cooler months of fall and winter if this post has inspired you to go check out Redlands for yourself!

  4. Beautiful photos - these are so fun and colorful! Your sequined skirt is also very pretty and I can see why you would have gotten looks but honestly, I would have stared! Lol I will tell my hubby about Redlands and see if we can incorporate this into our trip the next time we are visiting LA.
