As you can see from all the confetti, I recently celebrated my birthday! (Note: I don't carry colorful confetti around with me on a daily basis, although that would be cool!) Every year around my birthday, I usually pick one or two things off of my growing list of things to do and see around Los Angeles and this year I wanted to go to Chinatown. I'll save what we did there for another post about the excursion but I will say that Chinatown has really changed in the last decade or so. Apparently, it's now one of the new "cool" locations in Los Angeles, so I guess you could say that visiting was a way to make myself feel as if I'm still young and hip!
I just got this stripe "Market Wrap" skirt in the mail from Anthropologie and I thought it would be the perfect thing to wear for strolling the streets of Chinatown. I wasn't planning on this but the skirt and my pom pom shoes matched not only the backdrop of Chinatown but also the confetti that was strewn all over the ground there. The confetti came from party crackers that you can buy in Chinatown. When you open the cracker, it makes a large pop that sounds something like a gun shot and then it sprays confetti all over. Well, we didn't need to actually buy any crackers because confetti was already literally piled up everywhere! As you can see, I decided to pick some up and throw it in the air in celebration of my special day!
As I mentioned previously, for those of you who want to visit, I am planning on doing a post about a couple things I recommend seeing and doing in Chinatown. It was definitely an interesting experience! For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you were given a sneak peak of my adventures via my Instagram Story this week! One of the things I love about Los Angeles is that there are so many offbeat and fun places to discover, so it really made for the perfect birthday for a girl who loves L.A.!
