Earning my Stripes in Pasadena

Despite the fact that I have a fashion blog where I post pictures of myself online, I am actually a pretty shy and private person. (I know, the irony!) So due to the fact that I am not exactly an exhibitionist, I don't like taking pictures in places where people are walking by because it makes me feel incredibly self-conscious. Sometimes, though, in order to get a good photo, people can't be avoided. Take, for example, this spot that is on one of my favorite corners in Old Town Pasadena. Why is it my favorite spot? Well, first and foremost, it's where J. Crew is located! It's also home to this weird and whimsical statue and the candy store Sugarfina, so it's got it all: clothing, art and sweets!

Since the location perfectly matched my outfit, I decided to try it out for a few photos, but it was quite busy with people coming in and out of stores. I think that taking photos in public, even if you feel humiliated, is just part of earning your stripes as a blogger! Speaking of stripes, I am in love with this fun striped ballet-back tee from Old Navy. It has a great silhouette in the back, as it dips slightly, without being immodest because, like I said, I'm not exhibitionist! Below I have linked to the top and some other red and white striped versions that I love.

Surprisingly, nothing I am wearing in this post is from J. Crew, even though I am standing right in front of a J. Crew store! Yes, this is a rare day indeed that not a single thing I am wearing is from J. Crew! I bought the skirt recently at Zara, which is becoming one of my new favorite stores, but I also found pretty much the same version of the skirt here for only $19. Now that's definitely a bargain to show off, even if it's in front of a crowd, or just this random statue guy!

  2. I love how beautiful and affordable this outfit is. I need that ballet tee and your sneakers. I also love the skirt and clutch. I too don't like being in front of crowds that is why my photos are taken right outside my home, usually. It sounds hard to believe as a style blogger but yeah lol.
