My Heart Will Go On...and On

When I first started blogging, I used to take all of the photos in the backyard next to my orange tree (which I think might be slowly dying as a result of our drought in Southern California) and then post them the very same evening on my blog. It was very in the moment so to speak. I am not going to say that the photos were bad, but I do think I have improved a lot since then with my photos and choice of backdrop. While all of my photos are still glimpses of what I wear in real life and in real time, there is definitely somewhat of a delay from when I take them to when I post them.  The reason I bring this up is that I have had the pictures below, taken on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, sitting around for almost two months. It's not clear to me why I didn't post them sooner, but as I always like to say, better late than never!

The occasion for these photos, aside from the fact that the Queen Mary is awesome, was to celebrate my husband and my 8th anniversary. Last year I did a post entitled Seven Years of Smooth Sailing for our seventh anniversary. The Queen Mary is a great way to celebrate our anniversary because it combines our love for history, nostalgia for the past, and love of Beef Wellington, which they serve at the restaurant Sir Winston's, all in one place. Plus my husband gets sea sick, so it's also a great way to feel like you are cruising on a ship, without it actually moving!

Stepping on board the Queen Mary not only takes you back in time, but it also makes you feel like you are Jack and Rose from Titanic. (Yes, during one trip I did recreate the famed "I'm the King of the World!" scene!) In fact, when I recreated that famous scene from Titanic on the ship, I was wearing this same skirt and a striped top. What else would I wear?  It's, again, part of my theme dressing that I just can't seem to avoid. I don't wear this skirt from Anthropologie featuring ships often, but when I am on a ship, it's definitely coming out of my closet for a sail.

  1. The Southern California drought has been brutal but at least today's rain was quite nice. I love this outfit with the mix of prints. :]

    1. I agree, anything helps! I think we are getting some more next week, but it's really a drop in the bucket compared to what we need here. I am glad to find another fan of the Queen Mary, as it's such a fun place to visit and have dinner!

  3. It's difficult keeping up with all the blogging! I've still got photos from the summer I've not posted and it feels now like the time has maybe past. But this skirt is wonderful with the ships on it. Love the photo of you next to the telephone box!

    1. Yes, it can be difficult to keep up. I am feeling this more than ever since school started up a few weeks ago. Also, the photo next to the telephone box was my husband's idea. He even told me to pretend like I was going into it!

    1. Thank you Shea! Yes, we had a scrumptious dinner aboard the Queen Mary! I am a big fan of beef wellington and it's somewhat hard to find in restaurants around here.
