American Graffiti

I love finding hidden pockets of Los Angeles and this weekend my husband and I did just that by venturing to the Arts District on the outskirts of Downtown Los Angeles. This area was once home to numerous factories and the railroad industry but now, as the name suggests, it is home to various studios, galleries and cafes. The beautiful buildings that were once factories are now littered with graffiti and murals that make for a blogger's paradise of backgrounds and a visual feast for the eyes.

I feel like there is just something about posing in front of a graffiti background that makes what you're wearing all the more interesting and edgy, even if it's not. Today I was just wearing my color block tee and my new J. Crew "Reid" jeans, but I felt very "hip" nonetheless. (Well, as hip as one can feel standing in 100+ degree heat.) Below you will see my montage of pictures featuring various artistic backgrounds, murals and street art.

Just as a disclaimer: Yes, I realize what the graffiti in the upper right corner says. I didn't see it until I was editing these photos. I thought about blurring it out, but we are all adults here. Plus you can have a good laugh over it like I did when I spotted it! Actually, you might have to squint to see it, but now I am sure you will do that since I just brought it to your attention!

Well, thanks for coming along on this graffiti adventure through the Arts District of Los Angeles with Hello Katie Girl. With a name like Hello Katie Girl I can use all of the street cred I can get, especially wearing an outfit, as you will see below, that is all J. Crew!

  2. I love a great jeans-and-tee outfit - this is super cute! Plus you could throw on pumps and a fun blazer/leather jacket for date night. I am always looking for some graffiti wall art to take photos near - you've found some great ones!

    1. Love the pumps and leather jacket suggestion! If only it wasn't so hot (even at night) I would definitely rock that. Maybe in the future!
