Sunny Stripes

It's hot here and thus for the last few days I have been a recluse, avoiding the heat and confining myself to the coolness of my air conditioned home. Yesterday however, I stepped out into the sun in my new Kate Spade Barry skirt ready for adventure on the mean streets of downtown Los Angeles. My husband and I went to a salon on the Jazz Age of Los Angeles, which was held at an interesting, charming and delectable French cafe/bistro in downtown LA called Les Noces du Figaro.

Les Noces du Figaro occupies a lovely historic building as you will see below.  Located on Broadway in the once thriving theater district during downtown's "golden age", Les Noces du Figaro represents recent efforts to try to gentrify downtown Los Angeles and bring it back to its former glory.

You can't eat at any place French without experiencing their decadent and aesthetically pleasing pastries. A visual feast for the eyes and stomach alike, I wanted to pillage this entire case of French delights, but I restrained myself and only had a very modest raspberry shortbread cookie in the shape of a heart (not shown here as it was consumed too quickly by moi).

In the mezzanine, where the salon was held, interesting art was lurking around every corner. This included some rather bizarre bunnies. I had to snap my picture with these rabbits, which are apparently intended to be public art. I felt like Alice in Wonderland down the rabbit hole! The other painting featured is a nude in a rather sensual and precarious position, so I edited it to keep my blog PG.
