Pattern Possibilities

It is very liberating to be able to mix and match disparate patterns. Originally I would not have thought to mix polka dots with a floral, but due to the matching color palette of both articles this pattern mixture seems to work quite well.

The polka dot top I am wearing today is from Merona, one of Target's brands. When I saw the turquoise and navy dots I knew it was too cute to pass up. The sweater is from Forever 21. Forever 21, like H&M, is one of those places where you really have to pick and choose, but if you are careful you can come across some great pieces. I debated getting this angora blend sweater with floral print for fear it was a little "Granny-esque." When I brought it home and saw how well it matched with my polka dots I thought it was a winner. The dots gives the sweater a younger, fresher feel in my opinion.

The sweater with angora reminds me of a movie I watched last night called Ed Wood, about Ed Wood dubbed the worst director of all time and recipient posthumously of the Golden Turkey Award. Apparently Ed Wood, played by Johnny Depp, was not only fond of writing and directing horror and science fiction movies in the 1950s, but also cross dressing. In the movie Wood is obsessed with stealing his girlfriend's (played by Sara Jessica Parker) angora sweater and wears it in a good portion of the movie. But I digress.

Getting back to my outfit, the jacket I am wearing was a steal which I picked up yesterday at J. Crew. (I guess I already broke one of my New Year's resolutions!) I picked up the wool flannel Schoolboy blazer in grape for about $53 marked down from $200. The prices from the sale this week are pretty good, so I guess I can't feel too guilty about it!

Outfit: Blazer: J. Crew, Sweater: Forever 21, Shirt: Target, Jeans: Levi's, Bag: Louis Vuitton Speedy 25mm in Grenade, Boots: Chloe

    1. Thank you Laura! They only had a few blazers in various colors left at my local store, but it's worth a look!
