Layered Shirtdress

It's still hot here in California! I am seriously ready for some cool, crisp weather, but it's nowhere in sight! Someone, please send cool weather my way! Anyway, despite the warm temps, it's often cooler in the morning, so layered looks have become a must in my wardrobe over the last few weeks or so. I saw this layered look featuring a simple striped shirtdress with a sweatshirt over top somewhere (I don't remember exactly where, perhaps Instagram?) with these exact two pieces from Banana Republic. I decided to try this look out and found that it was a fun way to change up the way I wear shirtdresses.

My husband told me that the manner in which I am posing in the picture below looked silly, but I still decided to include it in this post. I sometimes feel like I stand the same way all of the time when I am taking photos. I am not, after all, a professional model who can come up with creative posses at the drop of the hat like those on America's Top Model, but I do my best! I think the photo also perfectly shows off my brand new silver loafers from ASOS. I'll be wearing a lot more of these in the upcoming months, as they are both very comfy and very silver!

Also, how great is this mosaic wall? I have featured it before on my blog and it's such a fun place to take photos. I love how it alternates between dream-like swaths of warm and cool colors. It was a hidden gem that I discovered above a parking garage a few years ago and I keep coming back to it, much like my shirtdress!
